Hey SWM Gang...

I saw some recent posts about an X-Wing event being run possibly by R5Don4 at this event and lo and behold I also see there is a full on Battle of Hoth scheduled for Sat AM.

For those of us who cannot make Minis Mania II down in TN, I was thinking of submitting a 200pt Constructed event request in to run after BoH. Would there be interest from the WNY, MI, PA, OH and GTA/Ontario communities? Unsure

Here is the URL... http://www.hammercon.ca/

We'll see who comes out of the woodwork? We've been meaning to make a border-crossing for sometime now since the 2011 Ontario Regional. This looks like a great Opp 2 do just that!

Yeah, I put in the request for the 200 constructed a little while ago, I'm just waiting to here back from the Hammercon folks before I make any official notice. The Hoth thing I put in way way back. I wanted to do them the same day, but all the Saturday afternoon slots are filled. Right now, pending approval, a 200 constructed for Sunday morning 9 to 1. From 1-5? (also pending approval) will be a 100 pt constructed X-Wing (yes that other new game). I'll get in touch with them again and see what's going on, it looks like they haven't updated the miniatures events in a very long time.

Or an Enhanced Drivers Licence will suffice in lieu of no Passport.

Only for those States progessive enough to offer them.

That border is more of a bother these days than it used to be. From what I understand a passport is pretty easy to obtain in most states.

Most unfortunate, there may be another option I'll check into that and post up LTR.

Your state sounds like Canada. Do you have to get guarantors and personal references as well? Does it cost $100?

Yeah that photo fee is an extra I forgot. Governments like to get their cut no matter where they are.

Any who, Hammercon is really dragging their heels giving me a green light for this. They are worried about providing too much space and it being wasted. Part of the reluctance is that WotC stopped producing the game more than 2 years ago, and a lack of any real local scene here. You Buffalo guys do realize that this is the same weekend as Minis Mania II in TN right? And I'm not in a position to compete in any fashion with the prize support they are offering. Just a morning of SWM followed by an afternoon of X-Wing.

The time & distance to get to TN is just too much to overcome so I will not be attending Minis Mania. However by the looks of what Bronson has been posting it looks like it will be an incredible event, I just hope the community turns out to support his effort.

As for Hammercon, I'd be happy with just getting as many as we can to connect on Sunday. No frills is fine but a custom or two from the hand of R5 would be cool, as I really liked your Jedi Infiltrator. Love X-wing as me and captaingig played today over lunch, got a question about Ion Cannon that I'll post up on AFM shortly.

Keep us posted about Sunday.

Hammercon is officially a go for all 3 events.

Hammercon mainpage
150 King St. E. Hamilton ON Crowne Plaza Hotel 3rd Floor

Battle of Hoth Saturday Nov 3, 9:00 to 1:00 Official Listing
Space limited to 4 players

SWM Constructed 200 Sunday Nov 4, 9:00 to 1:00 Official Listing
Space limited to 12 players

X-Wing 100 Constructed Sunday Nov 4, 1:30 to 5:30 Official Listing
Space limited to 12 players

All my events are free to enter with admission to con. Prices for con admission vary. $40.00 for weekend pass, including Friday, $25 for Saturday only, $15 for Sunday only, $10 for kids 10-14, children under 10 free.

I really hate putting limits on tournament admissions but due to the nature of the space, I can understand them imposing a restriction. From what I've seen so far, the SWM event will not be in danger of turning players away, and any player participating in the SWM tournament I'll guarantee a spot in the X-Wing event.

Big thanks to Gerry and the NY boys for their rabid enthusiasm for coming to Canada to kick butt.

Thanks man. Officially off the record, I did the paint jobs for the S&V Sealed for the Jedi Battlemasters and the Sith Blademasters (as well as the Elite Old Republic Soldier, Flim, and Crimson Nova Guild Leader).
