I'm not sure this is the right section to ask this but because this is not an actual sales thread I figured this better than the trade section.
I have around 1600 pieces and I am not sure of the best way to sell my collection.
Is it best to sell it all as one big lot if I can or to break it up into factions or something. I just want to get the best possible money I can as a whole.
Thanks for any help or advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Lots of people sell their collections in the trades thread. Just put it up in the Trade thread and see what kinda offers you get.

Right now isn't really the time to sell. Right after Gencon when all the online shops have bought their fill at gencon means that many of them have an oversupply and thus lower their sell prices as well as their buy prices (which many people on here go buy).
Selling in faction lots will def net you more money than 1 large lot as not many people have the money or even want a huge lot of minis.
You might check with user Bo_Mastar as he has advertised buying collections in the past.

this question has been asked many, many times in the past on Bloomilk.
my advice will always be the same.
please remember, I have done about 100 trades on da milk, and have bought and sold SWM before I played the game to the present.(ebay user name-darthjaksithlord)
I always suggest the way to get top dollar. It's not the fastest way, but in my experience it will net you more $$$$
A few ways to sell: sell VR separately sell R separately sell by faction sell lots of C & UC with VR and/or R sell lots of same/similar pieces ie. imp. troopers, or ewoks offer a free SWM with every $X bought. every body likes free. this works well for me. offer realistic shipping prices, this is IMPORTANT, we all hate paying to much for shipping. in my experience 1-6 small or med. minis can be sent any where in the US for under $2.50 offer free shipping on high priced minis
any one or combo of ideas should work well DON'T SELL TO A RETAILER online or in person. you will NOT get top $$$
remember most potential buyer just need SWM to complete collection. there are some however just starting to play, and what lots of anything
feel free to ask more Q??s here or by sending me a BM(bloomail)
peace Jak

a good way to actually figure odut selling prices is to look up on several of the online vendors. That way it regulates you. Noone is going to buy if youer prices are higher than the retailers, but is you give a discounted rate from what they sell then you have an advantage. also if you look at their buy prices you can figure for yourself how much would be not worth the risk for you. if someone offers you significantly less than a retaqiler than it would not be worht it because you are taking a little risk selling to another.

I only sell mini's to the on-line stores (strikezoneonline.com) is the single best site. You will get quite a bit less cash, but also much less effort.

THey have dropped them drastically until they get rid of some of their stock. a few of the other good buysites though are : Coolstuffinc.comaugies buy listactually i have dealt with all 3 of them a little bit. Coolstuff is prety quick to get you your money and is good about keeping you updated. THe other 2 take about a month but dont necessarily keep you the best updated. but they do usually have better prices.

I've had pretty quick responses with Auggies myself. I received my store credit about a day or two after they got my package, and when I took the cash option, I received payment less than a week after they got the package. Strikezone, however, I do agree about being slow. When I sold to them, I didn't get pait until the last possible day of their estimated window of payment. Going back to the main topic, If you sell to the online stores, it's best to divvy up your collection and sell to multiple stores. The main reason is that the stores only want so many of each figure, meaning if you want to sell more than what they need, you'll only get the bulk price for your extras, and the bulk prices tend to be so low that they aren't even worth the shipping cost.

Yes, you will get more out of your minis the more time you put into it, but a person should ask themselves "Is my time worth the money I'd get out of this?".

yes time= money but you also have to way the risks of selling to an individual. When selling to a retailer their bylaws are strict and clearly posted, in most cases. but when you sell to an individual you take the risk that that person will not send the money, or if you are the one purchasing they may not send the minis. i have had 2 instances with online selling that ended badly for me. (i have also had alot of good which is why i sell and trade with individuals also. ) some times the person doesn't get on quick enough and you dont get the right info, or sometimes the person is a con artist which has happened a few times to me. I am not saying that everyone is this way, by any means. i AM a person who trusts until proven wrong, but i have been a few times. i had a deal that had 4 VR (mine) figures being traded for 6 VR's. Neither side was getting a bad deal because at the time the 6 pieces were worth within $5 of the 4 we communicated and i sent my pieces and he claimed to have sent his. mine arrived (i payed for confirmation) but after 2 weeks i had not heard anything. i tried to contact the person but got no response. eventually i found out that the person had done this to several other people on other sites and was just a con. A friend of mine actually was trading a few rares and some vrs for a bunch of storm commandos. he received all the pieces he was supposed to , but the other person said that they never received their package. He did not pay for confirmation so he had no proof. SO he made a deal with the other person because he felt bad about it. and bought them a few of the pieces from an online retailer, to make sure that they got their pieces. my friend felt good about it afterwords until he heard this multiple times to other people alternating sites when it happened so that he got double the amount of pieces. i am not by any means saying to not trust anyone. i still do on many people. This is just part of what you have to consider when dealing with individuals over a store.
