So I avoided the Clone Wars cartoon for all these years. Not on purpose... I just don't have cable and didn't take the time to search it out online for a long time. When I did, I couldn't start watching online at the beginning and didn't want to jump into the middle. But now with the 'rewind' offered online, I've watched a few episodes from season one. And the first thing that comes to mind is... how in the WORLD did Gha Nachkt merit his own Star Wars Mini? His role is so minor - less prominent than Boss Nass and he's from a cartoon instead of the movie. It just boggles my mind how he could get a mini before, say, Tahiri or Ben Skywalker or Sebulba or Boss Nass or any of a number of other characters that play far larger roles (even leading roles) in various comics, video games, or books. Rant over.

Two words: Contractually Obligated.

Gha was a Lucasfilm necessitated character for that set.

Okay - I'll buy that. But I still don't understand why. Why would Lucasfilm promote such a shortlived character? *shrug*

I don't think Gha was necessarily forced into the Clone Wars set. I think when the Clone Wars set was made, he was one of the very few characters that LFL was willing to share with WOTC. So, in order to get more of the new thing into the set, they tossed in what they had.

Because that character promotes the show. Its why WOTC also needed at least 1 anakin/vader in every set.

I remember Rob said he was, and he had no idea who he was. I think that happened a lot.

Is he the Nass RM, or is that a suggestion?

The way I see it, the movies/Star Wars the Clone Wars TV series come first in priority of making peices. These are mini's everyone is familiar with. Next up would be the books and comics. Not everyone reads the books and comics, so not everyone knows who Tahiri or Darth Maladi are (for example). I understand the logic, and it makes a lot of sense from a marketing standpoint. I would prefer more mini's be made from the SWTCW tv show running right now than EU, because the show is Lucas approved star wars story writting. The books and comics are what George Lucas could care less about when it compares to what is in the movies that he made. At least Dave Fillonni (director of SWTCW) does take the EU into consideration somewhat.

I think when Clone Wars first came out, It was so nice to have an oppurtunity for more characters to choose to make. Looking back after what? five seasons, It seems a little silly. Maybe Wizos was just grasping at straws. I like the fig though.
