... has he abandoned us? I for one miss the dude, and what he did - updating this site; amongst millions of other things I'm sure.

Yeah... if he really is going to back off on the update process, I wish he'd hand out some keys to a few of us to do the work for him. I'd be more than happy to help add the new pieces to the database.

I did get a reply. He said, unfortunately, that swinefeld has done everything anyone can do towards getting the new v-set up soon- meaning we can't really be of much help at this time. He said he will try and get the v-set up soon. Looks like all we can do is wait a little longer.

I hold a toast to Shinja so he knows we appreciate the effort. Best thing to do is make the new IG-88A non-unique (Make note in the Description (A la flavor text ) and allow at least 1 other IG-88 Unique to be allowed. Most won't use more than 1 other of the IG88's.

Agreed! Cheers to shinja for all he has done in the past and hopefully things will continue on well into the future!

Honestly if IG-88A starts on a temporary basis as non-unique until a permanent fix can be found at least we can add in his Assassin Droid counterpart. The original and BH versions just aren't worth the cost for competitive squads even with twin and shields so its not that big of a deal on a temporary basis.

Just a thought.

Biggest problem would be people using 3 88A's but, once again, putting a warning label might help.

I don't think IG-88A would need to be set as non-Unique since IG-88A =/= IG-88. Really if Obi-wan on Boga and General Kenobi can't be in the same squad there's no reason Unique on IG-88A would have to yield the same value as the other IG-88's.

I think the problem of setting Unique (counts as IG-88) for the 3 old ones, and setting Unique (Counts as IG-88A) for the new one only fixes half the problem. You can have IG-88A in a squad with any of the old 3, but as soon as one of those old 3 is added, the other 2 become unavailable. The only way to make it so you could have all 4 on the same squad is to have each pieces unique count as a different piece... but this fails when you don't have IG-88A... the other 3 by that logic would still be able to be in the same squad without the triggering special ability.

Anyhow, i think it would be worth having all 4 available incorrectly in order to just get the v-sets up and available.

Yeah I was just saying how setting IG-88A as non-unique isn't the problem and that it could just as well be set to Unique and accomplish the same result of still allowing for 1 other IG-88.

If only IG-88A can be used as a conditional for the Unique value of the other IG's that changes their unique value to IG-88B/C/D instead of regular ol' IG-88

Or just leave him out entirely until a fix can be found.

I still think having all 4 together is a novelty and nothing more. The first 2 are just to weak for their cost. I for one would much rather use A and AD together with HK-47AD, way before adding in the original or BH versions of IG-88.

I think if it can be fixed to work for any one IG-88, it can just as easily be fixed for all of them.

Database values themselves cannot (or should not) be changed as it would affect everyone building squads at any given time.

I have given this a good bit of thought since compiling the data for V4. Some of the comments here are on the right track as to what *could* work, though I'm imagining that Shinja doesn't want to use a "shoehorn" type solution if possible, as much like designing new pieces, there could be unintended consequences down the road.

All that said, I doubt that IG-88A is the sole reason for the delay. I know my own work/family responsibilities have kept me from spending much time around here for the last couple months.

I just hope it finally happens with enough time to spare for debugging, before the next set releases. Wink

Yeah, that's totally understandable. After all this is a free site we are talking about.

Seeing as the powers that be are so busy, would it make the task less daunting to add everything except for IG-88and then tackle that down the road?

+1. When it comes to squadbuilding, I'd rather just have to use proxies for 1 piece than for 72. Anyone who's building with IG-88A knows the rules for how to build with him, so I'm not sure it's all that big of a deal right now to get him perfectly installed.
