Has anyone tried it? I've been thinking about maybe using some printed paper figures as proxies for vset pieces. That way you can find a picture of the character online, print it out and mount it on a stand like these. I know it wouldn't be the same without minis on the board, but it's a pretty cheap way of getting an easy recognizable proxy of a character.

This may be a bit unhelpful, but you're an excellent customizer, one of the best. Wouldn't you just be able to make customs? I guess if you need 10 of something, haha.

It's cheaper not only $$$ wise but a good custom mini could take hours and hours without counting glue/putty set time. Carving, filling, molding, etc. before you even prime/paint. I'm nowhere near Biggs but it took me three days to make a passable Talz Jedi that wasn't just a repaint with a lightsaber attached. You've got time or vacation, sure. College kids with no time .... yet I agree, it's not the same without mini's. I say whatever rows the boat

I spend many hours on some of the more difficult customs, and at least 1-2 hours on even the easiest ones i've made. That makes it pretty tough to keep up with all the custom minis i'd like to make. And there will be times when i don't have any spare time at all for stuff like that, so it's a solution i might consider in the future. Real minis are better, i agree with you on that
