Whats the Best All Melee Squad you've ever seen? We have a get together in a few weeks and the match rules say we're going all 200pt melee; I've always gone mostly guns with a few sticks as close up protection. Suggestions?

Hinkbert's Homicidal Mace, minus Evazan GC would be my vote. This was what he dominated several regionals with and made the Top 8 at GenCon.

I personally would either go with a Vong Stealth Squad or a GOWK/ Mace with Evazen(if possible). I would also not rule out Anikan's and Kenobi from S&V

Yeah, Mace and GOWK would be my first instinct too. Mace is pretty amazing against melee squads. You could chuck in someone like Ferus Olin or Anakin Chosen One too.

Something like Revan SL, Kaan, and Maul Sith Infiltrator could be good too.

You could build around Anakin Jedi Master.

And if everyone else is running Jedi, then Vong are suddenly really good.

Quite right too... This was a very potent squad back at WAMPA Stompa, as it made the finals.

Lou's OR squads tend to be good. All about the Battlemasters.

Nice idea, but this Tourny is Strictly Melee; no ranged attacks other than FP's.

I've got an idea about my Big beatsticks. Went Republic; Got 33 pts left.

Thinking about either Jarael (23pts) and R2 Astromech (9pts)

or

Dark Woman (21pts) R2 Astromech (9pts) and an Uggie (3pts)

More control with DW's Force Phase, R2 and an Ug, more Stick with Jarael.

Suggestions for the best use of the last 33 pts. My Beatsticks are pretty good, without giving away too much because my friends Do go on Bloo .....

What's the definition of all Melee? Do they have to have Melee Attack, or are non-attacking characters (e.g. R2-AM and Mouse Droids) also acceptable?

GOWK/Mace is my first thought, but without R2 and Panaka the mobility could be a factor - although less of a factor when everything else is melee, too. You'd at least have the Talz to carry people around.

But if R2 is ruled out, I would probably lean toward a Sith or OR squad.

Actually... R2 is an attacker (attack +8) and is non-melee. He's probably out regardless, even though his only damage boost is against adjacent characters.

R2 is in; his Shock is for Adjacent only. Mouse would also be in. Yes, everybody is otherwise melee, so mobility isn't as big a factor as it might normally be. Still thinking about my either/or ideas ......

GOWK/Mace with R2 and Foul is a lot of fun. The new Quiggy Spirit could keep things interesting too.

Definitely use R2 if you can, there's no reason not to.

Keep in mind that a bunch of otherwise sub-par pieces shine in this format, since their weakness is vs shooters. Anakin CoN for example. GMLS (though he's probably still overcosted). But new GMLS+ if he's legal would probably be worth running. And ranged FPs would pretty much rule, most likely. Vader Unleashed would rock with a battery. Sith Inquisitors, too. Big Sith beatsticks that were previously useless might be worth looking at again. Darth Bane for example.

We did a tourney like this years ago. We had the stipulation that you HAD to have the melee special ability on every card, so that meant no override. (Still to this day no character has melee + override)

Do you know what ruled? Ugnaught bombs. It was hilarious

But with disruptive beatsticks (Kyle Katarn) and Bastila running around I don't think that's the way to go.

But I think cleaver builds make GOWK/MACE get clobbered

I think I would go

--MELEE ONLY - Spittin Silly--
46 Yuuzhan Vong Fire Breather
19 Yomin Carr
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
10 Figrin D'an
18 Advance Scout x3
92 Yuuzhan Vong Worker x23

(200pts. 30 activations)

you out-activate anything heavily. If you face Bastilla, you hold out for 2 rounds till the FPs for ABM runs out, then you spit like crazy. Firebreather can take out Kyle fairly easily.

This squad annihilates most squads. Only really strafe and galloping attack beats it, Bastilla slows it down. You probably won't see strafe or galloping attack, because in general they aren't as strong in melee only

I would probably play something along the lines of what Weeks used to win Minis Mania

Poggle Bombs with a Lancer and Grevious of Hypori.

I've seen this go against GWOK; seemed like it depended on who rolled best. You may have seen this more. Does a good Vong always beat Mace/GWOK? One of our guys loves the new Vong stuff .....

Can't believe this hasn't come up yet, but yeah, Jar Jar would be a pretty good choice if it's melee only.

I've been thinking Lord Krayt might be a lot of fun in an all melee format

114 Lord Krayt
36 Lord Kaan
27 Darth Bandon
11 Darth Sidious Hologram
12 Sith Recruit x3
