I remember back in the days of Rebel Storm through Champions of the Force, Lightsaber Sweep seemed like a power almost expected to see on Jedi. Truth be told, it's one of my favorite Force powers in the game and I find it very sad to see it given away so rarely. For high cost Jedi, they will undoubtedly be outnumbered, Sweep gave them a chance to go against a swarm.

Is there a chance the designers have any intention of bringing this power back to the common Jedi?

I too am a fan of Lightsaber Sweep. I'd love to see more of it.

Not counting the Epics, only 3 v-set characters have it.
Darth Vader, Agent of Evil; Wookiee Jedi; Jedi Diplomat (missed Ki-Adi JM)

It's not completely ignored. The Jedi Diplomat, Wookiee Jedi, Ki-adi-Mundi JM and Darth Vader, Agent of Evil all have it.

In any case, I think the focus drifted more to Assault over Sweep as people don't really bunch up their units much anymore because of threats like Yobuck and the Lancer, so Assault was a more useful power for a force user to have.

Still, it'd be nice to see a mid-range jedi with Motf 2, Force Leap, and Lightsaber Sweep. Or a Sith with it to team up with the new Caedus.

It's just amazing crowd control, not overpowered in any way. I wish I'd just become one of those auto-powers on a new piece.

Something to keep in mind, Sweep has always seemed like a token Force Power. It wouldn't hurt to give it out, but a lot of the Jedi/Sith figures are so focused, that there is little room for adding it. And when it comes down to token Saber powers, so a figure has a Lightsaber, Block/Deflect is the preferred one, for some slight defense.

I'd like to see a sidious with sweep... it would explain how he dropped all those jedi that came to arrest him in ROTS.

I think sweep is one of those powers you really have to be careful giving out, depending on the faction. My understanding is that It can be used in conjunction with movement breakers to really be abused with the lawn mower effect... same as repulse and unleash the force, yeah?

Considering it's range of effect (adjacent) it's not nearly as powerful as the other abilities you mention, and the lawnmower effect can easily be nullified by rather simple planning.

True. on further evaluation, i suppose it doesn't really compare due to range... and the effectiveness is very dependent on damage boosting CE's and access to twin attack... and even then, attack damage is the easiest form of damage to negate in the game.

I would like to see more of Lightsaber sweep also. It is a underesimated power and the fact that when you use it, your attack doesn't count as a targeted attack (meaning you aren't targeting adjacent figures) helps you get around nasty SA's like Pheromones and Bombad Gungan. I learned this the hard way when I ran Jar Jar versus Darth Vader, AoE.

Does not get around diplomat, see the bold text in the glossary

Glossary - "If an enemy without Diplomat is in line of sight of the acting character, that character cannot target or attack an enemy with Diplomat, even one that is adjacent. If an enemy without Diplomat is in line of sight and the only adjacent enemy has Diplomat, no legal target is available."

Diplomat only if you use it in conjunction with overwhelming force. Sweep only gets around the targeting stipulation
