http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/01/24/j-j-abrams-star-wars-director/At least we won't have to worry about continuity being ruined, since either nothing will happen, it will all have been a dream, or we will get only questions and no answers. At least it's not Michael Bay, but it is still JJ Abrams. The old story: http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/12/26/jj-abrams-star-wars/Loyal to Star Trek, eh? And now directing Star Wars, eh? Sabotage?

Yay! I think JJ did well with Star Trek, I hope he casts as well. Also he did throw out the Star Trek continuity but he did it well, although that is probably the writer's fault.

I liked Star Trek, and loved Lost. Don't know how I feel about him directing a Star Wars. Too much shaky-cam and lens flare. I don't want my SW movies to look too gimmicky.

The original Star Trek is all still in continuity, just not THAT continuity.

I think it will turn out fine. The Star Trek reboot was excellent and he wasn't even a big fan of star trek to begin with. He grew up loving Star Wars, so I think that will give us an even better film.

To be fair to Abrams, would anyone not listen to Spielburg, when he is urging you to do a movie?
I think it's a good choice. Having seen Super 8, it feels like one of the classic family movies of the 80s. As long as he can control his lens flares to normal levels, it should be a fun movie.
Also it appears we may be getting a main heroine, since apparently Vaughn was pushing for a certain actress if he was to get the director chair.

I will say, some of the conversations going on is providing me tons of entertainment. But some of these reactions, are taking Star Wars too seriously.
I do hope the rumor of a female main protagonst is true. I like the idea. Especially if they are thinking of Chloe Moretz, like Vaughn was trying to get.

I get the whole continuity thing, after all I am a Doctor Who fan as well "Wibbly-Wobbly Timey Winey ball of stuff"-the Doctor

My biggest fear is with both Disney and Abrams is that they are going to reboot.
