So Ill start off by saying that I know this should probably go in the off topics section, and if its that bothersome feel free to move it, I just figure it wouldn't get much attention there so im trying to relatre it to the minis as well. Now to the discussion
With the new set that just came out and a lot of the figures that came from the old republic game it makes me kind of want to play it again and learn more about all them. I played the game from release for about 3 months then canceled because I think $15 a month on top of a $60 game is a bit much, so I ask now is it any better? Should I get back in to it? I never got to level 50, but it was pretty fun while I played. I think it would be cool to go and see all the characters who the minis were made form. How accurate are they? Is it worth it to go back and play the game again? Who all plays it?

I tried the game, was fairly meh. Besides the fact it forces itself into the canon with overused plots points as is, it had a very mediocre story mode and not remotely close to what an MMO should be. And overall, not a fan of how they make Revan out to be a complete chump. The disliking the story is personal opinion, but being a bad game is fact evident of how it went free less then a year after the release and why so many people cancelled their subscriptions and haven't even gone back despite being free.

To each his own, I guess. I really enjoyed TOR and subbed for an entire year. I have 2 level 50s and several other characters in the level 15-25 range. I started to lose a bit of interest around August, but that was after 8 months of playing every chance I got.
Only last month (after my 6month sub ran out) did I go free-to-play. My kids all love it and have several characters each as well. Now I play around once or twice per week and it's still a lot of fun. I'd personally rather be playing SWM most of the time, but TOR is a fun game too.

I'm with TINT on this one, but I guess I can understand all differ kinds of opinions.
Personally, I am a big KotOR fan and a big BioWare fan (KotOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect) but NOT a big MMO fan (my only prior experience was with the very free and very boring Pirates of the Caribbean Online), so I'm sure that colors my opinion.
After dabbling during some of the Beta Test weekends, I finally broke down and got a subscription last fall. I played the Jedi Knight up to level 50 (in part, I picked the class because I heard it was the closest to "KotOR III"). Liked it. Didn't love it. I think the class story is pretty strong... but there are too many other things getting in the way. The companions are cool... but not as solidly cool as in a lot of other BioWare games. (In most BioWare games, I swap out companions regularly, just for the fun of fielding different characters... Here, I always used the most efficient.)
After finishing out the Jedi Knight, I took a break for a month or so, then went back and created a new character for each class... and levelled most of their through the first planet. I've been dabbling with a Bounty Hunter a night or two a week (when I need some shooting to clear my head) and I think he's now level 20. Again, I'm enjoying the story... but not the grind associated with an MMO.
All in all, I give game a solid B, maybe a B+ at times. Is it worth playing? If you love Star Wars and enjoy video games? Definitely. If you've played it before and walked away from it, though, I doubt that there's enough new stuff to dramatically change your opinion.
If you do decide to play, though, if you wind up on the Jedi Covenant server, look me up. Name's Frausst. I've got two quick blasters, a pretty slicer by my side, and a secret soft-spot for the downtrodden.

When you say free to play, can you tell us more? Do you still need to buy the hard copy of the game to start with and then play online for free? Or can you download it all free? Is free play limited to the lower levels?
Thanks for any replies concerning this.

You still have to buy the game, free to play means you just don't pay monthly. But it's also a falsehood, because there is level restrictions, and only certain missions/loot/items you can get/use if you pay for it. Unless TOR became more desperate and removed those restrictions as well.

You can play to level 50-in Spring there will be an expansion that will put it up to 55, but not sure how that will affect f2p. No missions are restricted other than op, but certain loot is. You can not use purple items, which is the highest rating of gear at each level. However, it is not needed ( I never play in purples) until you reach 50.

Our SW guild was on Jedi Covenant, though we later joined Force Recon, and some of us spread to the winds, but most of us are on that server. Myself, TiNT and Ruhk anyway, the important ones.

The game is free now, but you get less benefits than if you pay. It wasn't very fun though, but then, all I got to see was my brother (not very video-game literate) play Bounty Hunter mode, not Jedi or Sith.
