My brother plays Seps and constantly uses his 3 chameleon droids. I was wondering if any character with Melee Reach # can attack the chameleon droids without activating mines. The rules say when a character moves adjacent to the droids that they have to make a save roll to avoid the damage. But with the melee reach # character im not technically considered adjacent until I attack. I know according to the glossary that lightsaber block and reposte as well as self destruct will still be able to be used against me but those are only used in response to my attack; not my movement. We have had constant arguements about it and I would like to know what the actual ruling is.

I believe Invisibility: "This character can be targeted only by attacks from adjacent characters. It never counts as the nearest enemy"
superceeds Melee Reach. Your character must be adjacent to target the chameleon droid.

But for melee reach it states that for the purpose of attacking anyone within # squares are considered adjacent and invisibility states it cant be attacked by non adjacent enemies. So for the movment phase no im not adjacent so I dont trigger his mines ability but when I get to my attack phase he is now considered adjacent... atleast thats how I interpret it

Melee Reach 2 (When attacking, this character treats enemies up to 2 squares away as adjacent) Invisibility (Cannot be targeted by nonadjacent enemies)
Im technically adjacent only for my attacking phase

Gotta love this game To be fair, you would've been correct under the original wording of Melee Reach. Which many people complained about, and is probably why it was changed to the current, more intuitive wording.

Lol well the chameleon droids are a pain to fight against especially if he's running 3 of them with Grevious and a battle droid officer and Commando droid captain. Atleast now I have a better fighting chance.

Trying to sinc up with this decade.
Situation 1 Lumyia (MR 3) attacks a Cloaked, Klatooinian Assassin, in cover, 2 spaces away killing him. He blows up. The blast radius is 2 squares, all within 2 of the KA get 20 damage, correct?
Situation 2 Same as above except Lumyia is killed by the 20 damage. Her blast radius is 3 squares, correct?

The way i see it... everyone adjacent to the Klatoonian would take damage but everyone but Lumyia 2 squares away would not get damaged...
And her blast radius if she dies unless otherwise stated is 1...

Self-Destruct 40 (When this character is defeated, each adjacent character takes 40 damage) .... only characters directly adjacent... remember melee reach only extends range for purposes of attacking not special abilities as well.

1. No. Melee Reach only expands who is adjacent to Lumiya, NOT the Klatoonian Assassin. Lumiya would still suffer the damage, as she is still considered adjacent. 2. As long as she is killed during her attack, yes.

A character with Melee Reach counts as adjacent until their attack phase is over. So Lumiya would be adjacent when the Klat blew up, and would take the 20 damage. If the 20 damage was enough to kill her, because it's still her attack phase, everything within 3 of her would then take 40. Please note that this only applies if the character with MR is defeated on his or her own attack phase. ETA: Scott beat me

No. This hasn't been true since the revision in 2007. The new Melee Reach makes them adjacen for ALL purposes, during the attack. Also, adjacent is not range 1, since diagonals are 2 squares away, but still adjacent.
