I think every shop. I haven't tried it before personally. I wonder if you can choose the comic book or if they had out cheap ones of their choice.

It depends on the shop. I've heard various stories about restrictions on the numbers of the free books or other promo materials.

Anyway, I will hit my local store for my first Free Comic Book day, and then head out to play some X-wing.

Our LGS has "May the 4th be with you" patches they are giving out for it too. My son wants to go so we will probably swing in and check it out.

There are official 'Free Comic Book Day' issues. I suppose number and whether you can choose depend on the store. I got 5 of my choice.

It all depends where you go. At my Local Comic Shop the guy is awesome, he gives you ever single on one of the free comics, about 30 or so, and then EVERY comic in his store is $1. Which means my bank account is gonna be crying in about an hour.
