Rather than clutter up this place with another topic on maps, I thought to change the title of this one. Are there preprinted maps that work well for more than 2 players besides laying tiles on a blank battle grid? I'm sure team play would be doable on any map, but what about four player FFAs?

ORIGINAL POST: What are everyone's favorite maps? I'd like to get some more eventually. Currently I have the RS Starter map, the double-sided Hoth map from the AT-AT (seems pretty useless for a standard skirmish, no?) and the two double-sided maps from the Attack on Endor set.

Would any of the ones from WotC be worth tracking down or are Jedi Cartographer's and Christopher West's as good/better? Are any of these on VASSAL to explore and play on before buying anything? And is the print quality the same as the WotC maps? I have a laminator at work and would laminated them anyways, but still, for the the price they're charging I expect the same quality of color and material.

Unfortunately, the best bet for maps seems to be sold out everywhere. Jedi Cartographer's Map Pack 4 has 8 maps, and they're pretty much all really good maps.

Attack on Endor is probably next in line, so you have a good set there.

JC and MapMaker's maps are just as high-quality as the WotC maps.

Have you seen the map guide? It shows images of all the maps (80 of them now?), and where they can be found. Unfortunately, the site that hosted it is down right now.

No... A lot of sites about SWM are dead links. It's sad just because a game is discontinued people sell it off and stop caring. This is the best place online I could find about SWM. Lots of great resources, tools, and a great community of patient and informative people!

swmresources.com isn't a dead link... it's just down right now. Echo24 runs the site and it was up as recently as last week. (He's very active here.) It should be back up soon.

I'm also a big fan of the maps of ships. MapMaker has several of those for sale at his site:

http://www.mapsofmastery.com/store.html

Mass Transit I, III, and IV all have ships. Also, Battle Stations II. Mass Transit I and Battle Stations II are probably the best bets because the maps on the flip side are particularly good.

I found that store and Jedi Cartographer's at Miniature Marketplace. Also found a few free ones. I just downloaded Vassal. It has those maps you're referring to.

I have yet to see swmresources.com work since getting my minis out of storage but it's nice to hear it'll be back!

Yeah, sorry that SWMResources has been down lately (almost two weeks now :( ). I changed hosts and almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong, lol. Hopefully I'll have it all back up next week sometime.

Simulation Deck is perfect for 4-player FFA since it's completely symmetric on both the horizontal and vertical axes.

Peaceful City works pretty well, too. Muunilist would be interesting actually.

Good call. The reverse side looks pretty symmetrical as well. It's hard to tell in the preview, but what are those blue/red force field looking things? Walls? Low objects? Difficult terrain? I like that there are four starting turbolifts with a door blocking access to the whole map to make things fair for all.

That map looks awesome. Is it available anywhere? It doesn't seem to be made by Christopher West or Jedi Cartographer. Those are the only mapmakers' work I can find for sale.

Sorry for missing this post. Peaceful City is found in Armored Cartographer's Map Pack 4, which is sold out. I think he makes the PDFs available, so you could have it printed out from a poster printer, but that's kind of pricey.

I didn't pick up the map to check, but I think the red/blue force fields are doors.
