well, the title sums it up. If someone being influenced by Cap Antilles' CE attacks someone with independent outfit, does the attacker still get the bonus? BlooMilk BigGrin

The definition says "...for the purpose of commander effects", so they don't count as Fringe for any other effects.

that really doesn't answer my question. are characters with independent outfit affected by an opposing commandeer effect that applies to enemy fringe characters, like Captain Antilles CE

Captain Antilles CE only affects followers, it has no effect on enemies. The Fringe restriction applies to the targeting rules (triggers when you target an enemy with Fringe), not who is eligible for the CE, so it wouldn't count.
Characters with Independent Outfit aren't considered Fringe for purposes of targeting, only allied CEs.

i believe he is refer4ing to if the effect counts them as fringe or not. Antilles Commander effects says that followers gain +4 attack and +10 damage against fringe characters.

That being said i am not sure of the answer. i am leaning towards no as normally commander effects do not work that way but i have no basis for that.

It should work. I haven't found anything to indicate otherwise, so far.

It's not an affinity that changes the faction to Fringe so I would say no. The affected units (Seps, Reb/Reps) would retain their original faction.

Yeah, I can see that way too. Question is, what exactly does "for purposes of commander effects" mean?

Hypothetical CE:

Followers gain +2 Attack while a Fringe ally is within 6 squares.

So if this is in the same squad as the IO character, it doesn't count? That doesn't seem right. And if it does work here, then it would work for enemies as well, since IO doesn't restrict to allied CEs.

Confused

Mandalorian counts for both SAs and CEs. So, Mandalorian Hunter, or not? Time to fire up Google in case it has been asked about 60 pages back...

My inner rule lawyer keeps saying "Independant Outfit doesn't specify only Allied CE's thus they would be affected." My common sense says "No Affinity, no faction change."

Yes, a character benefiting from Antille's CE would get the bonus against an enemy with Independant Outfit.

Stang! Another one for the odd/defies logic FAQ. Granted, the ability is barely used barring a widespread creation.

Antilles's CE? If Republic had a Reinforcements 20 character that could bring him in, he'd be great in some matchups.

If you mean Independent Outfit, it's catching on. But you already know that. Smile
