A few questions:

Who is rolling the save? Leia? Where would I put a force spirit to take advantage of rerolls? By Leia or by my non-uniques? If a bunch of characters die at once due to an area affect attack, do I roll seperately for each fallen soldier? Or does only the targeted character gt to come back? Where are resurrected soldiers placed? Do they stay where they were killed or do they go back to their starting location?

To answer your question, it is the character that is defeated that makes the save, they return to the deployment area just like reserves, and it does state "Whenever a non-unique character is defeated"

i am not sure what you mean, but if you are refering to giving them mettle, they would have to be near the affected character.

Roll seperately for each character affected as it says when they are defeated not when targeted.

the pieces are brought back into your starting area.
