We've had five sets and lots of great pieces, but what do you guys reckon are the cream of the cream? Here are my picks - I'm thinking more of strong in-play pieces, but picking favourites is also good:

Old Republic
Bastila Shan, Jedi Master
Carth Onasi, Old Republic Soldier
Atton "Jaq" Rand (since he's technically an OR piece, even though I like him even better in Sith)
Satele Shan
Old Republic Senator

Sith
Darth Revan, Sith Lord
Darth Caedus, Sith Lord
Exar Kun, Dark Force Spirit
Darth Bandon
Darth Zannah

Mandalorian
Kelborn
Mandalore the Vindicated
Mandalorian Scientist
Fenn Shysa
Jaster Mereel

Republic
Mace Windu, Legacy of the Light Side
Captain Panaka of Theed
Naboo Pilot
Naboo Trooper
Spaarti Clone Trooper Demolitionist

Separatist
Poggle the Lesser
Cad Bane, Bounty Hunter
General Grievous, Hero of Hypori
BX Commando Droid Spotter
BX Commando Droid Sniper

Rebel
Red Squadron Ace
Jon "Dutch" Vander
Princess Leia, Rebel Commando
SpecForce Technician
Jan Ors

Imperial(the first couple are very good, but otherwise probably the weakest list...)
Admiral Gilad Pellaeon
General Weir
Grand Admiral Rulf Yage
Darth Vader, Agent of Evil
Carnor Jax

New Republic
R2-D2 and C-3PO, Galactic Heroes
Corran Horn, Jedi Master
Luke Skywalker, Galactic Hero
Winter
Galactic Alliance Special Guard

Yuuzhan Vong
Yammosk War Coordinator
Nei Rin
Yuuzhan Vong Worker
Yun-Yammka Fanatic
Vergere

Fringe (there are a wealth of great pieces here - someone else could easily make an honest list with five completely different pieces)
IG-88A
Morrigan Corde
Klatooinian Assassin
Dr. Evazan, Galactic Criminal
HK-47, Assassin Droid

Actually, I'm inclined to agree with most of these choices. I might want to work in the new Rebel Han somewhere, and I also might want to replace Carnor Jax if possible, but I think that Imps and Rebels are probably the 2 factions that have received the least help, so it's not surprising that those factions are the ones with the least number of stand-out pieces. Atris has also had a big impact in the Fringe.

I mostly agree with you, but I have a few differences in choices. Our Imps are very different especially.

OR
Bastila, JM for sure.
Master Vandar-a competitive high-end beat that OR was lacking.
Satele Shan
OR Senator
Atton "Jaq" Rand-same as your thoughts, Hutts

Sith
Revan, SL
Caedus, SL
Wyyrlok III
Bandon
Exar, DFS

Mando
Kelborn. Didn't even have to think about that one.
Mandalore the Preserver
Mando Gunsmith. I'm surprised not to see them on your list, Hutts. The general consensus of my fellow players here in Newark is that they are the best "fodder" (high end foddder for benefiting from CEs) for Mandos, save the Scout.
Mando Training Sergeant
Mandalore the Vindicated (Though I don't love the first half of his CE as much as others seem to).

Republic ( I didn't focus as much on Naboo Deathshots as you did)
Spaarti Clone Trooper Demolitionist
Naboo Pilot
Mace, LotLS
Foul Moudama
JM Jorus C'baoth

Separatists
Grievious, HoH
Cad Bane, BH
BX Commando Droid Spotter
Poggle the Lesser
Maul, SI.

Rebels
Han Solo, Rebel General
Master Yoda
Ackbar, SC
CoS Mon Mothma (I think she has a huge amount of potential)
Red Squadron Ace

Imps
Adm. Pellaeon
Roan Fel, TTE
General Weir
Jerec
Sidious, Sith Mastermind

NR
Luke, GH
Ani, GH
Jaina, SotJ
Corran, JM (Not just because I like him. I think he's an outstanding 60 pointer).
GA Special Guard

YB
Yammosk
Vergere (though she's definitely best in Sith. NR is better for her than Vong)
Nei Rin
Mezhan Kwaad
Nen Yim

Fringe...this'll be hard...
KlatCappy
KlatAssassin
Morrigan Corde
Rodian Assassin
Watto

Yeah, Carnor Jax is out of his league overall, but I couldn't think of anything better - I haven't seen a lot of the other Imperial candidates in action though, eg Jerec's highly rated but I've never seen him on the table. I don't play Rebels or Imperials very much - Jan Ors is really there as an NR piece. When I look at it, Rebels have had a lot of pretty good pieces, but nothing really earth shatteringly amazing.

I think they're good, but whenever I play one it opens a door, then gets picked off. It's probably me playing them wrong though. Mandos have a lot of strong choices - really all they had beforehand were Scouts, Gunslingers, Quartermasters, and Captains, so they've really expanded. I think it would be possible to make a case for lots of things - I think the Crusader, the Death Watch Saboteur, Protector, Tactician, Mandalore the Lesser, Demagol, and Pre Vizsla all shine in their own way. EDIT - and the Counter Intelligence Officer!

i love the saboteur.

Great forward piece for the mando's. The tactician is wicked too. I'm surprised no mention of the CIO, his work is very latent.

THe mando's are really starting to get pretty funky.

For the Imps, I think the Nightsister Mother and Desaan are very good. After watching Jim maneuver these guys around and nearly beat me down with them, they are quite impressive.

I think you're probably right, Hutts-the Mandos have so many good non-Uniques that it comes down the what the rest of your squad is.

I'm a bit surprised not to see Master Yoda on your list, he's pretty amazing for the Rebs, imo.

Yuuzhan Vong (because let's be honest, all the other factions blow): Yammosk, Worker, Nen, Shedao Shai. That's it. That bird is a traitor and the other shapers are has beens.

My list looks a lot like the Hutts, but a few differences.

Old Republic
Bastila Shan, Jedi Master
Carth Onasi, Old Republic Soldier
Atton "Jaq" Rand (since he's technically an OR piece, even though I like him even better in Sith)
Satele Shan
Old Republic Senator
(Hutts nailed it - agreed 100%)

Sith
Darth Revan, Sith Lord
Darth Caedus, Sith Lord
Exar Kun, Dark Force Spirit
Lord Kaan (How was he not included in any list so far!?!)
Sith Recruit (SOOOOOO good. Makes Jaq and Zannah stupid)

Mandalorian
Kelborn
Mandalore the Vindicated
Mandalorian Gunsmith (Integral. Has to be on the list)
Mando Counter Intelligence Officer (Deri put it well)
Jaster Mereel

Republic
Mace Windu, Legacy of the Light Side
Captain Panaka of Theed
Naboo Pilot
Naboo Trooper
Spaarti Clone Trooper Demolitionist
(I thought about nixing the pilot and Trooper, since it's Panaka that really makes them both so good, but until Joruus really proves himself these guys are staying on my list.)

Separatist
Poggle the Lesser
Cad Bane, Bounty Hunter
General Grievous, Hero of Hypori
BX Commando Droid Spotter
BX Commando Droid Sniper
(Agree with Hutts)

Rebel
Red Squadron Ace
Jon "Dutch" Vander
Princess Leia, Rebel Commando
SpecForce Technician
Jan Ors
(Hutts nailed it)

Imperial
Admiral Gilad Pellaeon
General Weir
Grand Admiral Rulf Yage (He has to stay on the list - though usually better in sith)
Sidious, Sith Mastermind
Nightsister Mother

New Republic
R2-D2 and C-3PO, Galactic Heroes
Corran Horn, Jedi Master
Luke Skywalker, Galactic Hero
Galactic Alliance Special Guard
Lowbacca

Yuuzhan Vong
Yammosk War Coordinator
Supreme Overlord Quorreal (You just don't realize how good he is until you play him)
Yuuzhan Vong Worker
Yuuzhan Vong Hunter on Quednak (Vong Galloping Attack + cloaked = nasty)
Nei Rin (Shaper + ranged defense in 2 different ways)

Fringe
Salacious Crumb
Figrin D'an
Klatooinian Assassin
Atris
HK-47, Assassin Droid
(The distraction Lobot fodder pieces are too good to be ignored)

That's awesome.

I think that everyone has a better Imperial list than mine. As far as Sith goes, Zannah was a marginal choice for #5 - Kaan and the Recruit would definitely round out a top 7 for me. And I don't play Vong much - Quorreal probably should have been on my list.

Designers have definitely done a great job on Mandos - I've barely seen anyone complain about a specific Mando piece being too powerful, yet they've worked their way up to being in serious contention for some Regionals this season (and won California last year, I think).

I think Quorreal is good, but not really gamechanging in any way.

Naming a good V-Set piece is redundant and un-needing of a list, its kind of like saying a dead corpse. Why say it twice.

Not a troll. In fact I love V-Set, it's pretty awesome, just got the physical cards in like two weeks ago. Spiffy. I just always thought V-Set was already the same as saying good/game-changing and never saw a need to place the adjective in front of it. I'll be throwing up my list later tonight, minus the Vong...because lol Vong.

Ah, I misunderstood your point. My apologies.

His net cost is 10pts, he lets you tailor your squad, and he lets 1-6 of your pieces be diplomats until they attack.

It took me a while to figure out how really good he is. He's now considered in every Vong squad I build. Second only to the Yammosk.

(Ha, I wanted to check his stats, clicked the character's tab, and he was the one that popped up! Thanks Bloo Milk, old friend, but my birthday was months ago!)

You're probably right. I just looked at him and, though I liked his Reinforcements cosing less and having AN, just saw him doing nothing for 10 points. Once I use him more I'll probably realise how good he is.
