For things like damage reduction and ces how do you tell which v-set people have lightsabers? Is it consistently on their proxy figures?

If they have a lightsaber on their proxy figure or if they have an ability or Force Power which has the word Lightsaber in it they are considered to have a lightsaber. For instance, Vergere's RM has the lightsaber missing from Even Piell, she doesn't have a lightsaber. And even though the Jedi Infiltrator's mini doesn't have a lightsaber, he is consdered to have one because he has a FP with Lightsaber in the name.

Note that you need to look at the picture on the card to tell if the RM has a lightsaber. Exar Kun's Spirit is another example where the original RM has a lightsaber, but the picture on the card does not.
If there is an ability with lightsaber in the name, then it doesn't matter - the figure does in fact have a lightsaber.

AndyHatton is almost right. Special abilities (except for the Lightsaber special ability) do NOT make a figure count as having a lightsaber. The figure MUST have a visible lightsaber OR a force power with the word "lightsaber" in the name. For purposes of the V-set cards, if the recommended mini does not have a lightsaber and the figure is intended to have one, the card will have a lightsaber added on (or the reverse, if the piece is not supposed to have a lightsaber).

I knew about Duelist, so I was wrong there out of forgotfullness, but the SA Lightsaber means you don't have a lightsaber? I knew it didn't give you melee attack, but I always assumed it gave you a lightsaber.

What if i'm using a V-set mini whose RM does not have a light saber but the card has a force power with the lightsaber name but my dog chewed the lightsaber, and entire arm off the actual miniature....
