Since the characters in this only allow a little... I will put more info here on the question...
The question is, since the V sets have the Vong received so many "thematic" abilities and CE that they slow competitive games down?
I find it hard to not have to ask multiple questions during the game, in which it slows the actual game down...
THIS IS NOT A DEBATE, simply a vote, and then an opinion. Lets try and leave the low blows at home on this one.

I don't see how they aren't a playable faction. I think the V-Set went a little heavy-handed on the new abilities for them, and I never much liked the lack of actual pieces to represent the character, but I don't see how they WOULDN'T be playable. A member of our game-group uses them quite successfully, as a matter of fact.

Voted no. Frankly I don't see the Vong as more complicated than any other faction's competitive squads.

Are they slow as a faction? Absolutely not. It depends on your specific squad build. Can there be slower playing Vong squads? Certainly, but how is that different from many other squad types in other factions?
As I stated in the other thread: Prove it. Show a real example of a squad build that proves your point.Something competitive. If you can't do it than that probably ends the debate.

The game itself is very complex and my group is always asking questions and I've had to ask a few here on things the rulebook didn't seem completely clear on. As you play with the SAs, CEs, and Force Powers more often, they all become second nature. I don't do the V-Sets (yet!) nor could I imagine myself ever wanting to play as the Vong, but it's my understanding they released too much at once. I'd suggest just sticking with it until it becomes second nature like all the rest of the abilities that were foreign at one point.

Questions are part of the game. The problem isn't that their new abilities generate questions, but rather that our ignorance to their abilities cause questions. In time, once we're all more familiar with the Vong abilities, the speed in which games are played with the Vong will go up.

I don't think they're that slow, but again I have never played in a tournament. Only now in the V-sets are they getting access to things like reserves. I just recently started playing Vong squads because of this. And really, it's just a matter of how much you use the characters. If you constantly use Vong squads then you will be familiar with the powers. If you only use Mandos then you get acquainted with things like Bas'kargam or whatever. Personally I don't know Mandalorian that well, so those powers confuse me. I am much better at Galifreyan.

I voted "Yes" before reading, because I felt that because the Yuuzhan Vong are melee-centered, they'll always play a little slower, if only because they need an extra turn or two to get to basing.
They are not overbearingly complex or unplayable, though, so if that's the point of the poll then I should have voted "No."

Apart from Nom Bombs/Yomin Carr, which is a mechanic that was around before the v-set, most of the Vong are better when they're in your face and are relatively low activation. I'd see them as one of the fastest playing factions.

Voted no. Obviously, complexity of abilities and interactions is a concern, but in tournament play, I truly believe that the speed of games comes mostly down to knowing your squad and knowing your opponent's squad. It's perhaps unfortunate that Vset 5 came out so close to the start of regional season, since it gave people less of an opportunity to become familiar with all the new "toys" before they played against them. However, I don't think this is any more of a problem in the Vong faction than any other faction. Actually, I think the Mandalorians now are just as complex, if not moreso, although usually they shoot you to bits before they get to use most of their tricks.

I'm hardpressed to find a match in which I don't have to ask multiple questions of the opponents, regardless of faction.

No one, at this point, can remember ALL the various abilities, powers, and CEs in this game off the top of their head. I'm pretty certain Nickname couldn't near the end of WOTC, and I sure as heck can't. But, you should be able to keep track and understand your own abilities.

No to slow play and to differcult to understand, Melee heavy yes, but I guess that's what fringe are for. Our group plays by using a chart and the chart will have things on it such as No Commander or Master and Apprentice (two unique allowed only) and yes Faction pure is one of the options, all of which are random. So yes even with vsets we do have issues but that's down to our groups house rules. However standard games are often played as that option is 50% of our chart, but we do randomize faction which is not an option, so we use all factions regularly which most players probably don't. In standard games when Vong are used It is no slower than any other game. Yes we do look at cards to see how a SA/FP works but that is with any new SA/FP from the vsets. Most are really only variation of abilities that all ready exist.
At time of this post it is 17 against the 10 that agree with you**, so that clearly shows you are not alone on this topic. I do wonder though how many of them would vote the same about any faction and about anything to do with vsets in general.
However as this is now the second thread about the same issue you have made, just play other factions if you have an issue with vong.

Not anymore then any other faction, most squads people use general only have a couple of commanders or core SAs anyways
