Hello, peoples of BlooMilk! How are you?

For those of you who do not know, there is currently a community project focused on the development of a Star Wars Miniatures booklet in development. This booklet would have thee purposes: getting people back into the game; collecting information that is out there, but not easily accessible; and producing new content and rules. The general hope is for the production of a basic prototype of the booklet by Gencon 2014, and currently the main idea for distribution is in PDF form (printable at your local Kinkos).

I have been placed in charge of the project. I am a co-lead with pastorbudwine, and there are already several people who have agreed to help contribute. Unlike the V-Sets, this project will not be a full-time commitment (since none of us involved have time for that); rather, it will rely on gradual contribution and work. The more people involved, the easier for everyone.

At this time, the project really needs more people for it to get off the ground. There are currently only five users involved, which obviously isn't enough. That is why I am asking for volunteers. The project needs two kinds of volunteers: contributers, and playtesters.
Contributers will be charged with developing content, collecting information, contributing ideas, and overall just working on the booklet. Ideally, there will be a separate thread for contributors, but PMs will also work, if need be.
Playtesters will be involved with playtesting. This will require testing rules, scenarios, characters, and other things. Some parts of the project might need more playtesting than others. While detailed playtesting reports (like the ones for the V-Sets) will be the most helpful, any testing at all with just basic feedback might prove useful. Playtesters will definitely have a separate thread to post their feedback in.

The main thread for the project can be found here. While the first couple of pages are just brainstorming, the latter pages are where things are finally decided. The main thread is where major updates, news, and basic information on the project will be updated. I am currently working on a basic "Table of Contents" for the booklet, which will outline the main things we want to include. Once completed, this first draft of the Table of Contents will be posted on that thread, as well.

So, if you are interested in participating, please volunteer here, declaring what you will be able to help with (contributing or playtesting). You can even volunteer for both jobs, if you want.

-
P.S.: Based on issues that the V-Sets have encountered, I am predicting that the project will need far more playtesters than contributers. Even if you don't think that you can playtest often, please volunteer anyway -- once or twice is better than none.

P.P.S.: Please note that if you volunteer for a contributer position, you will be need to do some playtesting -- you have to playtest your own rules and scenarios, at the very least.

P.P.P.S.: Even if you have already volunteered elsewhere, please post in this thread anyway, so that I have the names of everyone in one, easily-accessible place.

P.P.P.P.S: I'm certain that I have forgotten to mention something, so if anyone involved has something to add, feel free to correct me!

Totally Random Games.

This is a format that we have used for several years, and does work, it is best used by, you win by defeating all your opponent's, but does work using gambit rules.

Dice needed for game 1d6/ 1d10 / 2d20.

Faction

First you randomize your faction. you each roll for this using a d10. if you roll * you are the following
1. Old Republic
2. Sith
3. Mandalore
4. Republic
5. Separatist
6. Rebel
7. Imperial
8. New Republic
9.Yuuzavong
10. You may pick any faction.

Game Format

You need a 10d for this, if you roll a * Only 1 dice is rolled for this and all players are subject to number rolled.
1. Standard game with fringe. (You can select from your faction and fringe)
2.Faction Pure (You can only pick from your chosen faction, you cannot pick fringe)
3.50% faction pure (At lease half of your point total must be of your chosen faction)
4.No-Unique (Your squad cannot use any character this is unique)
5.No Commander (you may not use any character that has a printed commander effect on it's card)
6.Single commander (your squad must include a commander and can only include 1 commander)
7.25 point maximum (no character in your squad can cost more the 25 points, otherwise this is a standard game)
8.26 point minimum (no character can cost less than 26 points, otherwise this is a standard game.)
9.Master & Apprentice (you must have two and only two unique in your squad)
10.2 out of 3. (this over rules point total dice, you have a 100 point random faction games, you must win 2 out of 3 games using the same squad to win,)

Point Total
You need a d6 for this, if you roll a *
1.100 points
2.150 points
3.200 points
4.250 points
5.300 points
6.350 points

For this format to work you cannot have a pre-selected squads already made. once all your selections is chosen you have 6 minutes to selected your squad.

The idea behind this format is to make players pick teams that they would not normally play, It does rely on players having a good selection of minis from all factions. As such this format will not suit everyone if you are playing with some one who will only be a single faction.

If this makes it into the book, then I assume that the wording for each randomization will be changed for the masses.

This has been played by our group for over 6 years 2x weekly, so play testing has already been done.

I'd be willing to help in some capacity, but not playtest. My group gets together too infrequently to be a playtester.

I don't have much free time that isn't already spoken for with other projects, but I will try to follow what's going on and contribute whenever I can.

Count me in! I'll mostly playtest probably, but I'll contribute whatever I can; any scenario's/formats I develop (or just kind of think of) I'll certainly share. Right now, I just kind of got an idea for maybe developing some kind of Bounty Hunting play format...

Apparently I missed this thread - no wonder I haven't heard anything about it the past few weeks. Sign me up as a contributor.
