This is my list - it's chronological rather than a ranking - what's yours?

#1 - R2-D2 Astromech Droid - 90% of the pieces in Revenge of the Sith have been left behind as the game has advanced, while this guy's still an auto-include 7 years later. The game's first big movement breaker, and he also made the Republic the only faction except Rebels with door control; two huge game altering abilities for only 9 points.

#2 - General Dodonna - San Hill and Ozzel would be on the list if Dodonna didn't exist, but Dodonna's tempo control without the downside of having to activate only 1 piece per phase took it to the next level.

#3 - General Obi-Wan Kenobi - too cheap for Soresu Style Mastery and a great Commander Effect.

#4 - IG-Lancer Droid - the ability to rip through a squad without risking any damage in return doesn't make for fun games.

#5 - Poggle the Lesser - I like the idea of giving fragile Sep pieces some defense against the Lancer, and bringing a previously useless piece, the Geonosian Drone, back into play, but the Drones ended up too strong.

Honorary #6 - Gha Nachkt.

It's interesting that it doesn't include any Imperial pieces, given that Imperials are the dominant faction this Regional season.

#1 Dodonna (with San and Ozzel as honorable mentions). Activation control is one of the most overpowered abilities in the game.

#2 Princess Leia. Probably the most powerful piece that WOTC created. Won 3 or 4 Gencon titles in a row.

#3 Mas Ameda. The first crutch piece. Doesn't allow players to actually learn how to place pieces.

#4 R2 Astromech. Agree 100% with Thehutts.

#5 Lobot. The single most overused piece (also in the running for best piece). Creates the headache of having to carry around a ton of extra pieces and adds extra time to setup as you have to take the time to pick them.

1. I agree R2
2. Darth Bane (he can assault and sith rage which against a jedi tht 100 damage combined)
3. Exar Kun (can basically teleport any where and make all his attack)
4. Luke Hoth pilot Unleashed (force pushing on sight)
5. Reiken giving all rebels Evade and mobile

My list much like many others but only going with a WotC list.

5. Thrawn - MT plus his CE get him on the list.
4. Ganner - wouldn't make the list if he didn't have FR1.
3. IG Lancer - no need to explain.
2. Jan the Man - just because he can turn the tempo on & off.
1. GOWK - the single most absurd piece ever created.

Honorable shouts out to Doombot and Rieekan.

Well... This is tough... I will go V-set top 5 and non v set top 5

Non V set
5. Dodonna/Ozzel/San Hill- Complete crutch pieces that just allow slow play ( which unfortunately is almost a necessity to be competitive now)

4.Lobot/Gha Nacht- To me these 2 walk hand in hand. Because adding 10 activations after seeing someone elses squad is just ignorant.

3.Thrawn Mith- Another crutch piece. MT, Swap, And Opp means 0 skill to play it effectively (with all their other crutch pieces of course)

2. Mas Ameda- I absolutely hate Mas. Full board swap is probably one of the stupidest things this game has, even if there are ways to counter it. It just shouldn't be there to start with. And Commanders are made out to be pansies now because of this piece. Do we really think these awesome commanders came to the position of power they have by being weak?

1. And my least favorite WOTC piece, the Mouse Droid. 3 (sometimes 2) points for a 20 d piece that can clog up hallways and provide cover? All while carrying CE wherever they want? SMH Wizards.

V/Sets, I will be less harsh here

5.Darth Bandon- I know he isn't tearing the scene up or anything. But he has effectively kept the cost of Sith pieces slightly higher simply b/c his CE is to good.

4. Darth Zannah- If know one likes GOWK... Why would we want a piece that can not only negate damage, but reflect it back to you? And Force Bubble is over kill... Throw in the Force Spirits... And it just keeps going and going and going.

3. Bastilla- I wouldn't mind her half as much if the FA ended at the end of the round, instead of the beginning of her next turn.

2. Poggle- 2 point pieces that can blow up to do 20 damage or not die on a save of 16? for 9 points? C'mon Man!

1. Mace LOTS- Now I know counters have been set forth for this piece so his effectiveness is cut out alot. And Mace Windu is my FAVORITE Star Wars character. But this piece should not be in this game at all. The ability to do unlimited damage on an opponents turn should never be an option in this game.

Non-V

Mas Amedda
Lancer
Mouse
Dodonna
Thrawn

V

Mace
Bastila
Nabbo Trooper
Klatoonian Assasin

Can't come up with 5. Just not playing enough I guess.

Top 5 so far:
General Dodonna: 6
Mas Amedda: 4
IG-Lancer Droid: 3
Mitt'Thrawn: 3
R2-D2 Astromech Droid: 3

Seems like a good summary of some of the most powerful abilities in the game - tempo control, movement breakers, Master Tactician, strafe, and override are all in there

V-set top five...

5. Mace Windu, LotLS - Flurry? nuff said.
4. Panaka of Theed - the rapport is the big issue.
3. Poggle the Lesser - 2 point drones and the CE.
2. Darth Malgus, The False Emperor - mainly because of the FYD save of 16 coupled with no LoS or cover w/in 12".
1. Bastila Shan, JM - only because of her cost.

Just missing the list is the Klatoonian Assassin but probably should be in there.

I guess I'll join in this...

(In no particular order.)
- Dodonna
Obvious reasons. He's way too cheap for what he does, compared to others. Especially since he doesn't require Line of Sight.

- Mas Amedda
Crazy cheap for the ability to nearly break the game. Boardwide swap, plus other CEs that were never meant to be boardwide, is just crazy.

- Poggle the Lesser
2 point characters is just a bad idea, period. Weren't we taught that already by the Mouse Droids with Gha? Why did we need another 2-point piece? And then one that very obviously isn't worth only 2 points?

- R2-D2 Astromech Droid
Everyone has said the reasons, but he's just too cheap and too good. As one person said, he's the best non-bodyguard bodyguard in the game, because everyone will shoot at him before they attack the person he is towing.

- GOWK
Again, obvious reasons. His CE is way too good for his cost, coupled with a combination of abilities that makes him incredibly hard to damage.

Honorable Mentions
- Rieekan - Way too cheap
- Mace LotS - Force Renewal 2 on him is just insane
- Lancer - Only crazy when combined with GGDAC -- more of a bad combination than a bad piece

Oh and I'd say Mace LOTS, Bastila, Cadus Sith Lord, GOWK, and I'm still looking for more.

Its interesting seeing this list, because I started playing in Jedi Academy, I didn't know the game before a lot of these figures so it is so hard to imagine me playing without Mouse Droids...but I do know I over-rely on Dodonna and Mas...I think they have both made me lazy in many regards.

Not necessarily, Andy. Pieces that people call 'crutch pieces' are pieces that are undercosted. Some do affect the game in negative ways as well, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them. R2, Mas, Dodonna, Rieeken and Thrawn(s) are all pieces that are over the top but have been 'must includes' in their respective factions. (I think for the Rebels Dodonna and Rieeken aren't as necessary now, thanks to Vset designs.) Some of them may suit your playstyle, or just necessary for your preferred faction. No need to apologize to people who don't like them. Personally, I like playing Imperials. Thrawn is undercosted and just has more on him that ever should have been there, and perhaps Mas should never have been made. That being said, I like the abstraction of the swap and think it fits the character of Thrawn perfectly. And, even though Master Tactician and Opportunist should never have been piled on top of that I will continue to play him and without apology.

Oh I agree with you, I don't think you shouldn't use them, they are great pieces which both do a lot for their factions (and I agree with Rieekan isn't nearly as necessry as he used to be, thanks especially to Cloaked grunts and Han, Rebel General)

Sorry I might have phrased that poorly...I just think (Dodonna especialy) has hurt me when I play other factions. My Favorite factions have been New Republic and Rebels since the start, and for a very long time they were mainly what I played. So when I play other factions it is sometimes very difficult for me to get out of the mind set of only activating one piece (ESPECIALLY in low activation squads which I like.) This has contributed to my slow play in games where I just straight up FORGOT to activate a second piece and hadn't thought about it at all. It is something I have gotten a lot better about and have made a conscious effort to do by focusing on playing other factions (it is actually something I'm proud of in terms of my growth as a player.) But I too will continue to play them without apology
ThumbsUp

Wow there are some pretty big names that I think are missing.
The sad thing is I love most of these peices

5.) Doombot (Door control, movement breaker)
4.) Mas Ameeda (Booming Voice Swap)
3.) Nom Anor (Super Stealth, Self Destruct)
2.) General Wedge (Evade, Mobile Attack)
1.) GG-DAC (Single Handidly jacked up sep droids to crazy levels)
Honorable Mentions: Lobot, Gha Nackt, Boba BH (just for disentigration), Cad Bane/Captain Rex
VSETS: FYI I love all these peices, I do concede however that they are kind of obnoxious and The rest of the community sure agrees.

5.) Poggle (Same reasons as Nom Anor just different effects)
4.) Zannah (GOWK only on sith)
3.)Mace LoTS (Insane)
2.) Caedus (crazy good force powers)
1.)Kelborn (mando movement breaker along with being phenominal by himself)

WotC
5. Gha Nachkt (2 pt pieces should never have been made possible)
4. Mas Amedda
3. R2 Doombot
2. Mouse Droid (give them Diminutive and they're fine)
1. Dodonna

V-Sets
5. Mace LotLS (drop Flurry and he's totally fine...exactly as he should be, even)
4. Klat Assassin (Cloaked and Self Destruct on a deadly shooter is way overpowered for anything less than 20pts)
3. Atton Jaq Rand (insanely good for what he does...no piece is ever again allowed to be as good-for-points as he is)
2. Panaka of Theed (stupid Rapport and TWIN for deathshot pieces.....)
1. Poggle the Lesser (since we have 2pt Mice, the Rapport is okay...but then NO self-destruct!! Ridiculous)

I find it interesting that you included Zannah, but not GOWK. And Kelborn, but not Yammosk War Coordinator. Also, just out of curiosity, why did you choose General Wedge over General Rieekan?

Because it seems like everyone on the planet complains about wedge, also I never found gowk to be a problem, mayve becuase I never faced him but I think that he suffered from internet snowballing. In fact I'd place captain rex as a bigger problem then GOWK
