As I'm sure most of you are aware, WotC used a defective plastic for some of their miniatures in Alliance and Empire, such as the Human Force Adept, Trandoshan Mercenary, Death Star Trooper, Tusken Raider, Nikto Soldier, and the extremely valuable Storm Commandoes. Minis made of this plastic develop a film around the base, and as I have heard, will slowly dissolve over the course of who-knows-how-many years. Of the aforementioned miniatures (and others) MOST of those particular figures have the dissolving film, but a few do not; I own five Storm Commandoes, and four of them have the film to various degrees while a fifth seems fine.
I remember a while back there was someone who was working on a project to cast and duplicate miniatures, especially Mouse Droids. Does anyone know who he is? It would be great if this casting could be used to duplicate Storm Commandoes.
Also, how many of your guys' Storm Commandoes have the film? How many are film-free? Who figured out that they were dissolving, and does anyone know how long it'll take?

If you're worried about that, put the minis in boiling water for a few seconds. The heat should help reform and strengthen the bonds in the plastic.

They were molding and customizing a lot of stuff, including mouse droids. Unfortunately, their group has pretty much dissolved. Roy now plays X-Wing and runs 'A Few Maneuvers'. Kris was selling minis...don't know if he is still planning on playing. Marcous, the guy who was doing the molding, is out of the game altogether as far as I know. If you are interested in picking his brain, I could try and hook you two up via Facebook, but I am pretty sure he has no intentions of doing anymore molding.
