If GAT is within 6 of an ally that is being attacked, but not within 6 of the enemy that is attacking, can that attacker use force powers of any kind (including re-rolling an attack) against said target?

The change to Ysalimari grants Force Immunity. So it is just like attacking a Vong character. So, no rerolls and depends on the Force Power.

I am just not sure on if he need to be within 6 of the attacked enemy or the attacker? Maybe it's within 6 of any part of the exchange? I have not played any Vong characters yet.

If Thrawn is within 6 of either, his Ysalimari grants Force Immunity and prevents the spending of Force Points. This has different effects on the attack depending if it is the attacker or defender.

Can you give an example? Like, can luke's landspeeder re-roll an attack against my at-st if the at-st is within 6 of GAT, but not within 6 of the Landspeeder?

I'm pretty sure it is all correct. The comments are helpful for understanding odd interactions.

Y-Field has caused headaches since its inception. Ask sometime about the Thrawn v Exar Kun match. The good news is a lot of people have watched the interactions grow step by step. The bad news is every new player who enters this game has to learn about Y-Field/Force Immunity, Diplomat, and, heaven help us, Bombad Gungan from square one.
I find all if these more apt to learn about from hands-on competition (Re: Vassal online) vs reading about it via FAQ or board. Just how I learn.

I will eventually.....dive into all that. Can Exar Kun use force essence to replace an ally within 6 of GAT? I would think not? Is that what you were referring to?

I left this post open because people with better memories than I could clarify. Original ruling during the affected game (GenCon championship?) initially was Exar couldn't transfer in as it was affecting the target (Ugnaught?). This was re-thought after the event and it became that he could transfer in (it affects him not the target), but he can't transfer out once in the affected range.

I would have thought that the original ruling was correct. I thought Exar could not transfer in if the ugnaught was within six of GAT? Because it is a force ability, and the ugnaught is within 6? Maybe I do not understand ysalamari after all?

Someone with a better memory than I can correct the discrepancies.

He can't spend force points in the affected range, so that's pretty clear.

You cannot Transfer Essence into a character with Force Immunity (so anyone in range of Ysalimiri) as you are directly affecting that character with a Force Power. (removing it from play and defeating it)

That's what I thought. Thanks. Feels good to actually play by a correct rule for once ;)

I figured I was wrong. Thanks for the clarification. It was a long time ago.
