looked for a search function with no luck so sorry if this is a repeat question.
how does savage and melee reach 2 work?
Savage says you have to stop adjacent to an enemy if possible and melee reach 2 says you can attack with melee from 2 squares away.
So, my interpretation of this combo is that you still have to move adjacent if you can, but if you can't reach an enemy because they are blocked in or something, you can still use melee reach 2 to hit them.
My hope is that I am wrong and melee reach 2 would allow you to stop 1 square short of adjacent since the savage beast has reach 2.
I have been playing as the character has to stop next to (touching) the enemy square.

You must move adjacent if you can. You cannot stop short on purpose to use Melee Reach 2 without being adjacent.
Looks like you've been playing it correctly.
