Can anyone point out a scenario in which it would be better to use proximity mines over grenades? I think it is a cool ability but I can't see why I would ever want to use it if I could use grenades instead. It seems like just a weaker version of grenades. Maybe I am wrong?

I haven't really looked at PM. Based on what you say, I likely would only use it on a character WITHOUT both of them.

It has a guaranteed damage, unlike grenades.
Its main appeal (to me) is forcing your opponent to either activate a threat later in the round so they don't kill off their own pieces if grouped, or if they need to, killing their own pieces so whoever is mined can go. It also forces your opponent to great consider where they need to place their pieces so they don't get hit by the mines if it comes down to that.
If given the choice I tend to pick Proximity Mines.

I guess I didn't read it very carefully. I didn't even notice it had auto damage. Thanks for the input everyone.
