Luke has both:
Lightsaber Block (Force 1: When hit by a melee attack, this character takes no damage with a save of 11)
and
Djem So Style (Whenever this character is hit by a melee attack, make a save of 11. On a success, this character can make an immediate attack against that attacker.)
Why does he have both and why would someone ever choose to use lightsaber block? I feel like I must be missing something.

Because they work together. You can block the damage and still attempt to hit back with Djem So

You dont have to choose between them. You can do both, because Djem so does not take a force point.

Doesn't the save of 11 with Djem So block the hit? If so, then you would be better off doing that and if it fails, spending a force point to try it again.

No, Djem So just responds to the hit with an attack of his own. The damage still soaks through. Djem So is more akin to Lightsaber Riposte. Lightsaber Riposte: take hit, spend force point, and attack right back Djem So: take the hit, make a save of 11. If the save is successful, then make an attack. No force point required. Counterattack (V-Set only): See Djem So In all cases, damage still gets through. Lightsaber Block's non-force equivalent would be Parry. Lightsaber style equivalent would be Makashi but not Mastery. Correction: Corrected actual trigger.

1) o.k., so lightsaber block can block the attack and then I can roll for an 11 once to see if I can make an immediate attack with djem so, or I could just roll an 11 for djem so and if it fails spend 1 force point to roll again if in that specific circumstance I really want to increase my odds of getting 1 attack off immediately, correct?
2) Can I choose to use lightsaber block and djem so in any order I choose? Could I use Djem So, to see if I may want to spend a force point to re-roll the save and if I do not need to use a force point for a re-roll then use lightsaber block?

1. Other that that Block also requires a save.
2. They both happen simultaneously, so you can choose which to resolve first.

Hasn't it been ruled that you have to declare if you're going to use block before rolling the Djem So save? Glossary wrote:Lightsaber Block: (Force; 1 Force point) When a character using this Force power is hit by a melee attack, it can avoid the damage with a save of 11. You must decide whether to use this Force power immediately after the attack hits. Or was it only Lightsaber Riposte (and similar attack effects)? Glossary wrote:Djem So Style: Whenever a character with this special ability is hit by a melee attack, it makes a save of 11. On a success, this character can make an immediate attack against that attacker. If this character also has Lightsaber Riposte or another ability that lets the character make an immediate attack against the attacker, then the decision to use those abilities must be made prior to resolving the save for Djem So Style.

Suppose an attack hits and your character has Lightsaber Block, Lightsaber Riposte, and Djem So Style. They are all considered simultaneous events, so normally you could decide in which order to resolve them. However, the glossary for Djem So explicitly says to resolve Lightsaber Riposte before Djem So Style. So assume you want to block. Your choices for resolving them are: 1. Lightsaber Block, Djem So (opting not to use Riposte) 2. Djem So, Lightsaber Block (opting not to use Riposte) 3. Riposte, Block, Djem So 4. Riposte, Djem So, Block 5. Block, Riposte, Djem So Notice that in all cases Riposte either comes before Djem So or is not used.

Thanks. That all makes sense now. I'm going to go look, but I would imagine very few characters have all 3.
FYI-I just looked, nobody has all 3. Maybe there is a CE or SA out there that gives 1 of these and when added together someone could have all 3.
