That's right, ANOTHER split custom set! This one is focused in another era, with other factions. As usual, we will unveil pieces here slowly, until the set is finished. And maybe some other stuff; who knows?

Feel free to comment on any characters we post here (once they start coming; it'll probably be one a week or so).

Thanks in advance, bloo members! ThumbsUp BlooMilk

Ok! What do you want for your FIRST SPOILER!?!?!?! Old Republic character or Sith character (both are Unique and CE's)? Whichever someone asks for first will be the first spoiler of the set! Pick one, anyone!

Alright, thanks harryg! HEEEEERE IT COMES!

Kas'im, Sith Battlemaster (51)

Hit Points: 100
Defense: 19
Attack: 11
Damage: 20

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Unique
Melee Attack; Twin Attack

Makashi Style Mastery (When hit by a melee attack, this character takes no damage with a save of 11. Shii-Cho, Soresu, Ataru, and Niman Style cannot be used against this character.)
Mobile Attack (Can move both before and after attacking)
Niman Style Mastery (+4 Attack and +4 Defense while this character has more than half Hit Points remaining)
Shien Style (When hit by a non-melee attack, this character takes no damage with a save 11, and the attacker takes damage equal to the prevented damage; save 6.)

FORCE POWERS
Force 4
Lightsaber Flurry (Force 1, replaces attacks: Make 4 attacks at -10 Damage)
Lightsaber Riposte (Force 1: When hit by a melee attack, this character can make an immediate attack against that attacker)

COMMANDER EFFECT

At the start of the skirmish, choose a Sith follower with a Force rating and a Lightsaber who does not have an ability containing the word 'Style'. Also choose Shii-Cho Style, Makashi Style, Soresu Style, Ataru Style or Djem So Style. For the rest of the skirmish, the chosen ally gains the chosen special ability.

"Someone well trained in lightsaber combat can defeat an opponent who is stronger in the Force." ―Kas'im

EDIT: Removed Shien from the CE (I decided to remove that over Soresu because it's probably a less balanced ability to be giving to so many potential pieces) and removed Force Renewal 1 (upped Force from 2 to 4)

Also lowered cost to 51

Some design notes: Ok, you may notice right off the bat that his stats are LOW for a 'Battlemaster'. This is intentional, to 1 keep his cost down, and two because of Niman (his secret weapon! He discouraged it among his students, to keep the element of surprise, so that's why Niman is also missing from the CE).

Also, Makashi/Shien is a glorified Soresu Mastery, but with Zannah around, the added benefits of it do not outweigh her lower cost/follower/Force Bubble imo (this is STILL aggressively costed, which I don't like to do, but I don't feel he would be USABLE with Zannah around, so I made his stats a bit lower, forwent MotF, which Zannah has, and made his 'LS Trainer' a CE, to balance him out). I also made sure to have Shien on there, since atm it is a custom ability since no v-sets have used it yet, so it makes it easier if you choose that for his CE.

The reason for LS Flurry/Twin/Mobile, which can be a nice combination, but costs a Force point, is because he fought with a Lightsaber-Staff or two Lightsabers at once, so lots of attacks going out.

I don't know if I should try to squeeze LS Combat Expert on there, because that would create another monster like Zannah lol, since he already has Shien, which in essence does a similar thing already (just the roll is in the opponent's hand, and it's only Non-melee), and he's already got a wordy card.

Also, who thinks I should REMOVE Shien/Soresu from the CE? They really overlap too much, and if you would choose Soresu, you would just take Shien. But, I don't know if it's a good idea to hand out Shien anyway. Thoughts?

ONE more thing: The ONLY pieces that he effects with his CE (Sith faction/sith in the name followers with both Force and Lightsabers that haven't got a 'style' already) that worry me as a potential issue is the two Sion's. I could limit it to a cost lower than his, like Cin, but that makes it more difficult, and makes more text to put on the card.

Shien Style is far overpowered. Why is it stronger than Shien Style Mastery?

You definitely should not be giving out Shien Style. Especially since it hasn't been agreed upon (among the custom community, let alone in the Vsets) what it should be.

I can compare this guy to Master Kavar and say, with confidence, that he is probably undercosted.

As for synergy with the Sions... I understand why you are worried about that. I'd suggest limiting the CE to cheaper pieces.

Thanks for the comment Signerj!

Shien is NOT stronger though; opponent has to make save 6 instead of 11 to avoid it. You are thinking of the saves backwards (don't worry, I did the same thing once lol). Also, I realize it hasn't been made as a V-set piece yet, but that's the reason I have mine on here, because that is what is being given out.

In fact, MY Shien Mastery was made to measure up to my custom Shien style, and the v-sets Mastery just happens to be identical lol. IMO, it would be a mistake, but there's a chance that if Shien is made, it'll be like the 10 damage reflect.

Thanks for the second opinion on the cost; I guess it does need a raise. I think Kavar has many very different uses from this piece. Though, in the same faction as Zannah, how much would you honestly consider using this one? I'll definitely raise the cost a bit, because this does have a very different use from Zannah, but unfortunately Zannah does exist, so realistically, this can't be costed too much higher.

Yeah, Sions could be a problem, but now that I think about it, once I raise this guys cost, you will be paying around 60 to give one more save 11 ability to try and prolong the life of a piece that generally you send out to distract and ultimately to be killed instead of your other pieces.

I'd be willing to use this piece over Zannah in a heartbeat.

But anyway, to focus back on Shien:
"When hit by a non-melee attack, this character takes no damage with a save 11, and the attacker takes damage equal to the prevented damage; save 6"

Does that mean that first the target makes a save, then the attacker makes a save to ignore the entire ability? If so, that is really cumbersome and redundant.

Official Shien Mastery wording: (When hit by a nonmelee attack, this character takes no damage with a save of 11 and the attacker takes damage equal to the prevented damage; save 11)

^^^[identical to LS Reflect and my original Shien mastery, which was actually made before this release, off the text of Reflect)

My Shien Style wording: (When hit by a non-melee attack, this character takes no damage with a save 11, and the attacker takes damage equal to the prevented damage; save 6.)

^^^[identical except, of course, easier save for the attacker on the second save, and a dash in the non-melee/no 'of' before '11'].

Also, over Zannah... I still don't see it. This doesn't have MotF and Bubble for 2 rerolls that 1/10 automatically return the damage/damage reduction, and this costs more and isn't a follower, on top of greatly reduced stats (that even with Niman are -20 HP, +1 Def, +1 Att). Now, this can move and put more damage out with LS Flurry, and with Bandon it gets quite nasty, I admit, but it does cost more, and Zannah has even more possibilities, being a follower. I may raise the cost a bit more, because of the Flurry/Twin Combo (almost like 1 Force for Quad/Ambush/Backlash), but against any auto-damage, like GOWK, only more so, this gets TORN TO SHREDS, where Zannah still will have her Bubble unless playing Vong/Ysalimiri...

So, looking again, the offense of this piece makes it worth more probably, so I'll raise it, but if I wanted it to even be considered 'competitive level', I probably wouldn't think of it in todays game with Zannah around.

Thanks for that clarification.
That SA is worded very unusually... I mean, a semicolon is usually used to indicate a save for the whole effect, not just the latter part of an effect.
But oh well.

You probably had the cost in the correct range your second time through; somewhere around GOWK's range, maybe a little more. I doubt that I would play this piece for 60 points in a competitive squad. (Sorry that I'm confusing you; I've been playing casually lately, so my sight costing is probably a bit off.)

Thanks SignerJ. Yeah, when you pointed it out the second time saying 'to avoid the whole effect...?', I was confused myself, because that WAS strange a bit strange...

Ok, thanks. I'll probably keep it on the safe side (closer to the 60 than the 54), because I do tend to cost my pieces more casually.

Very cool flavor text, (I used it on my versionRazz) also we chose the same CE (fits him great) and we both used Lightsaber Flurry and Makashi Style Mastery as well. Altogether a very cool character. I do have some concerns however, L Flurry with Twin is just to much. Especially with Renewal and even more especially with Darth Bandon's CE. Mobile Attack does sound good with L Flurry though.Wink Lightsaber Riposte with Twin is also a very strong combination that I think is not fairly represented in his cost. Very tough to take down with basically SSM plus Counter attacks, he's like a slightly less defensive Darth Zannah with a LOT more offensive power.
Once you get him down to half health though he will be more manageable.
I'm concerned he is too good and that's just him as a stand alone, not even considering how good a commander he is!

I love Shien Style (I use a version of it myself) and think we should have a forum debate to hammer it out, cause I really want to see Jedi have access to it (outside of the one Epic)

I'll have to check your Kas'im out!

Thanks for the comment; I don't know if Flurry/Twin is too much. It IS like GMA quad with Mobile though, but it does cost Force... I'll remove his Force Renewal for further balance (I didn't to start with though, because of Holosid...), and give him Force 4 instead. That'll bring his cost down a LOT too. He does have more offensive ability than Zannah, but because his offensive output RELIES on his Force, taking away Renewal will greatly nerf his defensive capabilities as well (Zannah gets rerolls/bubble etc.).

EDIT: I saw your Kas'im, DW. It IS very similar! Some cool new abilities/elements on yours. And, that flavor text is very cool! It fits everything I thought fit the character; great dueling capabilities, but his force powers focus on augmenting his fighting capabilities with the lightsaber (just as he did in the book), rather than to use force powers to win a duel.

Yeah, our CE's have the same basic idea (LS Trainer like ability; PERFECT for Kas'im!), but there are two glaring differences/restrictions on mine: You cannot give it to someone who already has a 'style' (cough cough Zannah cough), and it's only followers (narrowed down some other dangerous synergies).

I like the idea, but this guy is definitely undercosted, especially in the sith faction. as is I would cost him at least 10 points higher. I think what you're going for is a lower costing Sith force rating follower (which they could definitely use!) But we have to remember the Commander effects of the chosen faction play a part in the cost of the piece. Renewal is dirt cheap in the Sith and Backlash isn't expensive either. Bandon's CE also would be nice. This guy already has a high attack potential even without help topping at +16 against an unactivated enemy with just one other character with the same name. (unlimited attack available) I would drop either Cunning attack or Group Attack ( BTW there is a SA that has that effect already called Swarm not that renames are uncommon) and Drop Lightsaber Deflect (Defense abilities are rare in the Sith so some of the weakest shouldn't get more defense ability then many beatsticks) I woulds also lower the starting fp's to 2 and cost him at 14-16. Cool idea and the sith could definitely use a decent character at that point range.

Defense: 18

The flavor text is wordy and might need some editing. Maybe he should have 3 FP?

Finally, an OR spoiler! Enjoy BlooMilk

Army of Light Jedi Lord (Old Republic, 20)
HP: 80
Def: 17
Att: 7
DG: 20

Special Abilities
Melee Attack (Can attack only adjacent enemies)
Double Attack (On his turn, this character can make 1 extra attack instead of moving)
Coordinated Assault (+4 Attack while within 6 squares of 3 or more Army of Light allies)
Second Wind 10 (Replaces attacks: Remove 10 damage from this character)
Jedi Hunter (+4 Attack and +10 Damage against enemies with Force ratings)
Long Shot 10 (+4 Attack and +10 Damage when this character is at half Hit Points or less)

Force Powers
Force 3
Lightsaber Deflect
(Force 1: When hit by a nonmelee attack, this character takes no damage with a save of 11)
Lightsaber Riposte (Force 1: When hit by a melee attack, this character can make an immediate attack against that attacker)

Jedi Lords became more and more scarce as Lord Hoth's campaign drew on, and almost all who followed Hoth were eliminated in the epic conclusion to the battle on Ruusan.

Does anybody else think Coordinated Assault should come off? I mean, I realized that with just Farfalla for support, this guy can get +19 at half HP, and it goes up from there (up to 27 with all his abilities triggered, for 20 points!).

Also, I kinda wanted him to be an option or Farfalla's reinforcements, but a damage output of 120 (with Farfalla/Bastila) is a lot for 20, and he survives pretty well too, so anyone else thinking cost bump?
