Congratulations on doing so well in your first big tournament! There is something magical about coming together and playing for a day - I do think the game balances much better as a tournament game where everyone's bringing their best squad. There are so many options that are good now.

Big thanks to everyone who came out! This was the 3rd TN regional. We had a lot of fun. We had it out doors at the park, and we grilled out which was really cool. This tournament had so many memorable, epic moments. It will be hard to capture them all in a play report. I will say that I think that this tournament went a long way towards reminding everyone in attendance why we play the game.

I wanted to run something fun, something without high acts, and act control so I ran Thon and HK with Bastilla, Covenant Executor, OR Senator, Squib Trader, R7, uggie x2, and two mice. I would give Bastilla the FP, and I would give HK relay orders.

First round match was against Craig Cook, Legacy of The Force, he attended the very first TN Regional, this was his 2nd tournament experience, he was running a Mace, Kenobi, Master Yoda squad, and he played it very well. I lost map roll all day long, so he got his map Tomb of The Acolytes which isn't great for Thon at all. Craig came close to winning the game, it all came down to strategy. I chose at a certain point to do a tactical retreat, to which Craig chased. When the tide of the game shifted, and I had the advantage, Craig refused to retreat, and it cost him Master Yoda and the game. Kenobi never died and never got any dmg done to him. 2pt win. This was one of my favorite games of the day. Mace and Thon had an epic showdown. Followed by Yoda/Kenobi on Thon with the Executor and Bastilla coming in as reinforcements.

2nd round I was paired up against DieAndBeMetal who was running a variation of a squad I designed. Morrigan, 2 BX Spotter, 2 Snipers, lots of bombs, act control, OH! and the Droid Commander so they got Double. Once again he got map, and so we played on Rancor. After we started the first round I realized that I had not paid a lot of attention to the map and it caused me to pick the wrong side. In my defense I had a lot going on with making sure everything was running smoothly with the food, and all the other games etc. Even so, I played the game close I was able to take down all the bombs Morrigan, and I should have killed the Droid Captain. Christian was able to win though, so now I'm 1-1 with 2pts.

3rd round I got Mike Davis, he was running 100pt Sidious and Vader Scourge which was an interesting match up against my squad as Sidious is a freaking monster. MD was also running Shmi Skywalker, so he got me to kill her in like rd 2. Rd 3 I was able to take down Vader. I used my little pieces to try and make Sid have to target them with lightning, or attacks while trying to shoot him. He was able to Evade everything, finally I went in he parried all of my Thon attacks, HK was able drop some massive dmg with shots. He ended up killing Thon, and HK ended up killing Sidious. I ended up with another win 2-1, 5pts. I felt good about it all until I was informed that due to the amount of players we would only be playing 3 rounds and that due to strength of schedule I was going to finish 5th... That was until my attention got pulled to the game between DieAndBeMetal the guy who had just beat me, and Craig Cook, Legacy of The Force. Craig and Christian will give all of the details of that game, but long story short, Craig won, sending Christian to 5th place and me into the top 4!

We took a break to eat Hamburgers/Hotdogs, passed the frisbee, relaxed a little, then jumped into the top 4 showdown. I was 4th so I had to play 1st which was PegoLego who was running Daala. It was his very first regional, and he was having a good time dominating everything with Daala. He won map again, to no one's surprise. His map was Cantina, I picked the right side, and captured Gambit first round, he took a couple of shots at Thon in the first but was unable to do any dmg. 2nd round I see a great move, but I need to be able to act 2 to do it, so I act Bastilla and let him act 1, after that I make my move, I force leap Thon down a hallway, and Sniper shot Pallaeon with HK. Pallaeon dies as do all the CE's. After which this game is over. Thon and HK proceed to take down all of the troopers. Executor and Bastilla eventually move in and clean up taking out the stormie on sled etc. I got a full win and advance to the finals. This game was one of the highlights for me. I've played Daala before but never against her. I wasn't looking forward to it, and then Thon and HK pulled it out. It was a lot of fun, Pego was a great sport, and ran a very good tournament. I hooked Pego up with some sweet prize support for coming out playing, and making top 4. He stuck around and watched the Championship.

Finals.

scruffyhan had a ridiculous squad and I had zero chance in this match. Talon with 6 Klat Ass's AND Zam. I won map! Stop the press! Right? Too bad it wasn't enough. Anyways, we played, his squad had a huge advantage, he brought in a free human BG, so I had to kill 2 of them before I could dmg Talon. Which I did with HK, but then he unloaded and killed Thon, HK failed his save game over.

In closing, it was a great day, filled with some great minis game playing. The TN regional 2 years in a row has been an absolute blast. It's right there with Kokomo as my favorite tournament. I have my favorite games at those two regionals. Congrats to scruffyhan, you dethroned the King and took my championship. I will be coming for blood next year, and I will take my title back. Mark my words.

Oh we took pictures too which I will be posting after I finish season 7 of Big Bang Theory! Thanks once again to EVERYONE who played and made this such a fun tournament! Oh and one more note, Mace Windu killed Cay Qel Droma and failed his save of 11... Just thought everyone would enjoy knowing that. That's right Cay Qel Droma saw play, and was effective! Imagine that happening. Thats the kind of moments that happened all day long. Cannot say enough good things about the tournament we had!

First off, I want to say thank you to the Tournament Organizer. This was my first tournament in a very long time. I had intentions of attending the IN tourny this season my job however, kept me from being able to attend. The TO of the TN regional and I have become friends through countless games on Vassal, he was able to convince me into attending this regional. It was a drive, to be sure, and I was nice and tired when I showed up. Though once I had some alcohol in me it did not matter. I was playing such an overpowered squad that took absolutely no skill to play whatsoever.

I was running Talon Karrde, 6 Klat Assassins, and Zam Wessel. Zam can be moved around with Talon, gets a bonus to her damage which is nice. The idea behind my squad is I put my Klats in green, so if you come to kill them you are adjacent to a low object so, you kill them they blow up, you take 20, I act Zam and watch you auto fail all of your attempted saves. This usually causes lots of foul language from my opponent, and much laughter from me. I am, by no stretch of the imagination a good sport.

My first game was against Mr. DieAndBeMetal who was a real ***hole. He was running something in the neighborhood of 28 acts. Something stupid like that, with act control, Morrigan, some spotters, snipers and bombs. Good thing someone on the design team decided it was a good idea to make 12 point pieces that have cloaked and self-destruct or this could have been a nightmare for me. I got off to a good start killing one of his snipers, spotter, and then Morrigan. Then out of nowhere I find myself saying "Son of a Vondruke!" because here he comes with his porn stache, and he almost beats me with swarms of his stupid bombs. I was unable to use Karrde's disruptive because everything else in my build is cloaked, so only Talon would have been a legal target for him. In the end I got a two point win because I could never get to his Muun and Poggle. Afterwards I refused to shake his hand. People that run squads like that deserve to be shunned and ridiculed. I did just that. I felt good about it too.

On to my next game, I have a bit of a pep in my step after putting Porn Stache in his place. My next game was against the bounty hunter challenge Sidious with the Scourge of the Jedi Vader, Shmi Skywalker, Pondo, R7. Wow… so let me get this straight I went from a swarm, spam squad, to a Bounty Hunter Challenge build. What a change of pace! My opponent was considerably more skilled than my previous opponent. He probably should have won, had it not been for Zam being so ridiculous.. He used Pondo perfectly and was able to get to my squad and start wreaking havoc. He mopped up most of my Klats but thankfully Zam was able to trap Vader and Sid Vicious in the green and with one 20 and a final shot Sid Vicious went off the board, init, and I do the same thing to Vader and the game was over, with a 3 point win going to ME! I shook his hand. Proudly. I finished early, had a couple drinks. Took a piss. Got ready for round 3.

My third game was against the only person who was brave enough to run Daala. pegolego. I say this because multiple times throughout the day the classless crowd that assembled for the tournament bashed Daala. Apparently they considered banning the piece from the regional. That would have been exactly what I would have done. It was announced that due to only having 8 players at this point that we were only playing 3 rounds. I realize at this point that there is no way I am not making the final four, so I just looked at pego and said I am too drunk to taste this chicken. Which translated to mean, I refuse to play against this hot garbage. Actually I was a little buzzed so it may have came out the other way and I was thinking about saying the chicken comment, it's impossible to say. Just know that I refused to shake hands OR play. So on to the finals.

I was ranked #2 I believe, and had to face #3, who was a gentleman named shmi15, he was running the most classic, and original squad I have ever had the elite privilege of laying my eyes on. I almost feel unworthy of posting the contents of the squad here. It was OR, with new Ulic, Kavar, and hang on to your hats Cay Qel Droma. This game was pretty interesting because until I could trap him in ysalamari and disruptive Ulic was rocking a 31 defense in cover. All in all it was interesting but they were all melee and fell to my 12 point cloaked pieces of destruction.

So in the finals I was thinking I was going to be facing pegolego, and that Daala garbage, but behold the power of the Thon HK force leap! So instead I was playing old republic Thon charge squad. theultrastar wrote a play report, but you cannot believe a word that guy says, not only did the game take the full hour I only won the game because in the final round I was able to get Zam line of sight on the Executor and sniped him to tie things up, and placed Zam on gambit which in the end I had the biggest piece closest to gambit. So I won via tie. It was not a way that I wanted to win, but in the end I said to myself what would Tim Ballard do? Once I knew that, my decision was clear.

So I am the TN regional champion, whatever that means. Perhaps I am eligible for the illustrious Hall of Fame? I feel my contributions to squad ratings, and this forum to be enough to at least get me nominated. After all I have been educating and enriching your lives. Especially the designers. In closing I would just like to say that I won because I was the best player there and that I would have won regardless of what I ran.

And what I ran was a ridiculous, overpowered set of pieces. Almost as bad as Daala. ALMOST. There was no fun in this tournament at all, ultrastar, you lied to me. This turnout and your tournament was pretty lame. I will not help you sugar coat this disaster. You should be ashamed. That being said, I am now 2 for 2 in tournaments that I have participated in this year! Tim B eat your heart out. I was hoping you would be there so I could smack you around some, and at least have a challenge. Oh, and Tim, I won with an all fringe squad, now it's just me and you in that class.

Yeah. Scruffy han has always reminded me of Percy Wetmore. A generally unpleasant person who doesn't enjoy the game, and wants to make everyone elses experiences as negative as he can. Business as usual

Being a good at a game doesn't give you the right to sh*t on everyone else. And "great player" is all inclusive, and this guy has no sportsmanship.

+1

Win, lose or draw a level of class, decorum and sportmanship is to be maintained. After reading that "disaster" of a play report, it is you scruffyhan who should be ashamed.

Oh wait... your ego won't let you.

Bahahaha, that is about the funniest play report I have ever read! Scruffy Han, you are unbelievably hilarious. Personally I would rather play any daila squad than your squad. The Klats and Zam would just tick me off. I actually think both your squad and daila are in the same area of brokenness. Beatable by a few squads, but will rail most. I still would like to say congrats. I want to thank players like scruffy Han that help to bring light to over powered pieces and help keep the game balanced. Granted you could be a bit nicer about it, but nonetheless you are a good player and a good strategist. I hope to see you at the kokomo regional next year.

Lol, I think I get it now...

Guys, it's almost entirely a joke, it seems, but quite an interesting read, keeps SH's bloomilk persona together.

He actually DID play my Daala squad, and was quite friendly throughout, even giving me some play tips while we were at it.

And TheUltraStar's Finals reports were accurate Flapper

I'll cook up a PR for my own games soon.

Really? Interesting... When I played him in the Vassel tourney we had awhile back he wasn't nasty at all, so I guess I can believe it.

Well, if he won with an all WotC Fringe, that would be very impressive. As it is now, with V-sets, Fringe is much better. And he is not just a "bit of a jerk".

Jerk or not, he's completely right about the Klatooinian Assassin. It has two of the few abilities that have no natural counters: built-in Self-Destruct and Cloaked. Together, they're even worse. On top of that, base stats that are way out of whack with the cost. As I said elsewhere, there's hardly any reason to consider any other attacker in the 8-15 point range. Maybe Naboo, I guess. The Klats need some serious hate.

It seems like he's just putting up an online persona thinking it's funny. But it seems only one person finds it humorous.

Okay, we all get it, he is a jerk. Now let's move on and not let any of this spoil the thread. So to get the ball rolling in another direction, is the klat assassin over powered? He obviously found some great synergy with zam, talon and the Klats(props to scruffy), but is the klat alone to strong? With cloaked and self destruct 20, if played right you have to lose 20 hit points in order to kill one. I am just saying, for his point cost he is more than stacked. Anyone agree, disagree? Also, other play reports? I would still love to read them! 😊
