What is the minimum amount of activations someone should have in a 200 point squad?

It depends to some extent on what the squad does. I play low-to-mid activation squads, which I would define as generally 12-16 activations. Sometimes I have activation control, sometimes I don't. I go in expecting to be outactivated and try to have plan to deal with that. Many many squads (especially in Imperials and Separatists) these days have between 20 and 30 activations, including reinforcements, but smaller squads can certainly compete.
I don't think I would go less than 10 activations, personally, but that's not to say there aren't some well-built squads out there in that range.

Someone made the Top 8 at the GenCon Championships with a 6 or 8 activation squad (Revan and Lord Krayt with fodder), but that was a bit of an anomaly. Nowadays, it seems to be that squads built around a few beatsticks tend to be in trouble, since Daala's Snowtroopers will crush them...but even then, if you have a way to deal with lots of low-cost pieces shooting you each round, maybe you can make a game of it. What I'm saying is that Daala's trooper swarms seem to be increasing the need for more activations and limiting the viability of low-activation squads.
