Me and CHS123 have been talking this week, and we've decided that we are going to attempt a project to deliver good, balanced custom stats created by the community (not intended in ANY WAY to be OFFICIAL or whatever, I just want them to be good enough that if you and a friend agree to allow them you can feel good about using them with WotC/V-set pieces if you like, but have them useful at the same time), with MATCHING CUSTOM PROXIES, designed by CHS123 himself, of course!

We're batting around some ideas like a box/package design for them, what other stuff we could put in the box etc. (we are very open to suggestions at this point Smile)... But our first order of business is this:

PLAYTESTING THE CUSTOMS! We are going to be using (if none of the creators mind) that old Jedi vs. Sith II community custom set (we probably will re-name it though, any ideas there either?)

Since we already know what the set-list looks like (the 11 pieces from JvS2), anyone involved can go ahead and be playtesting any pieces they like from the set (in person is fine, or you can set up some games on Vassal), voicing any concerns or telling how well the piece played, then post results/reports in a playtesting thread that I'll make.

At the end of it all, once all the pieces are finalized, to the satisfaction of their creator, but also the rest of the creators who will be participating (we want to make sure everyone who might get a set will like and want to use all the cards and minis, but the creator also has to be happy with their own finished product, or this isn't fun for everybody anymore Smile), I will be personally taking the templates you guys may have seen for card fronts and backs, then making all the custom cards in nice, uniform manner, before taking them to be printed on some form of card stock (I haven't exactly figured out those few details yet). CHS123 will probably be able to begin making the first batch of customs soon, since we already know the characters, BUT we want to give the creators a chance to voice some ideas they may have for those as well (nothing TOO extravagant; I know it'd be awesome to repaint an epic WotC sculpt, then add Force Lightning to it or whatever, but we have to consider budgets here too lol.

Then, anybody who wants a copy of (card and custom miniature) their own piece can order one, or you can order the whole JvS2 set!!! We're going to have to figure out a price that is fair but will cover the printing/customizing/shipping costs as well.

Any suggestions are welcome! I look forward to seeing this through, I hope it works out and everybody has some fun in the process BigGrin

Also, I may not have made it clear, but we'd love any tips/playtesting help from anyone who wasn't an original designer, as well! And anybody can order the pieces/set Smile

If this goes well, it may happen again in the future, too.

I know I designed a Vodo Siosk Baas for a community set but I can't remember if this was the set. Could Someone check the set list and see if this was that set?

Oh, btw, I've decided that whoever submits the highest amount of quality playtests (me and CHS don't count, if we do most) will receive a $10 credit for pego's Minis & More! So, there's some incentive to help get these tested lol Wink

Additional Info.

Harryg i had to change ur Holocron Name to Jedi Holocron because my Bane had a Holocron Ability already. I hope that's ok.

This Goes with CorranHorns Character: Drain Life 1 represents the Sith trying to absorb more life energy wherever it can. Vicious Attack and Bloodthirsty represent how fiercely the spirit will fight to keep its new body. L,ITY represents other Jedi assuming that this is their old friend, until he stabs them in the back. Finally, he is Fringe because I see this as covering not only Sith taking control of Jedi during the Sith Wars of the past, but also, say, a Jedi archaeologist being possessed while on a remote expedition and not necessarily having any Sith available to join.

I'm not sure if I mind or not, but it doesn't really matter, as mine would be ineligible anyway. Kyle Katarn, Enraged Jedi is a piece based on an Alternate Universe fanfiction story. In other words, non-canon.

EDIT: Also, it isn't really designed to be truly "balanced." It's more of a fun/themed piece, and I was not at the point in my customs-making "career" when I made it to be designing pieces for balance and playability. It probably wouldn't convert well. (Though I still think that the non-canon bit is more of a problem.)

EDIT: Also, it isn't really designed to be truly "balanced." It's more of a fun/themed piece, and I was not at the point in my customs-making "career" when I made it to be designing pieces for balance and playability. It probably wouldn't convert well. (Though I still think that the non-canon bit is more of a problem.)


No problem being Non-cannon, it's a fan made set anyway Smile, but if you'd like to make another piece for the set, you are more than welcome to come up with one, we'll hold your spot, as CHS123 said, if you are still interested. I totally understand lol, and it's most important that YOU are happy with the result.

If you don't have issues with the non-canon bit, then go ahead, you can use it. Should I go ahead and make the piece more accurately costed and balanced?
(As a side note, I've been trying very hard to make balanced, well-costed pieces and statblocks for my custom set Galaxy in Turmoil, so I'd like to think that I'm getting pretty decent at it.)

Also, do you know which fonts to use for what text on the card, and do you have the card templates?

I'll be making the cards myself, and I don't really have set sizes and such yet; I just fit it and then make the other cards match lol (I've only made a few before, but they will be PERFECT _as close to that as they can be, at least_ if I'm going to do this lol).

We'll play test them to help balance them, but you can go ahead and eye-ball it to get it started if you like.

@Cassus Fett, sorry I didn't get back to you before now, I didn't see the post yet.

Playtests should be in 200, standard rules, generally, since that is what is standard these days. But if you want to report how they played in other points/formats, feel free BigGrin

Just Bloomail any play reports to me, and thanks! BlooMilk

I don't think each piece will need but a couple tests, with any potentially abusable builds, to see if they need tweaks.

Hey everybody! We are going to start getting this together soon now Smile

What we're going to do is this: You can test your piece on your own etc. (and, everybody: Feel free to change your piece to another if you like), and I'll go through one at a time with each of you and spend some time testing your piece with you on Vassal (if you have Vassal, of course lol), for a few games or whatever until we are both happy with both how it looks and how it is balance-wise.

After we are happy with the stat-block, you can discuss with CorranHornsux123 (now using BFMV123, as he lost his password) on what you'd like your custom mini to look like, ideally.

Once all 10 pieces and their stat blocks are worked out, we can start taking orders and then producing the set!

Unfortunately, it looks like some of the creators don't really use Bloo anymore Crying, so we may have to replace some of those user's pieces (meaning we may have openings for new users).
