Ok the mandalorian special abilitity says counts as a mandalorian character for purposes of special abilities and commander effects my quesiton is, does that negate Talon Karde's commander effect and special ability that grants yslamari? I know there are a lot of weird interactions in this game and was wondering.

I would think not. The glossary says:
" Also counts as a Mandalorian character for purposes of Special Abilities and Commander Effects."

The word "also" makes me think it's still Fringe.

I agree with Juice man. It would follow the same principal as independent outfit. They count as both.

i thought so as well, but talon's special ability names independent outfit directly, and independent outfit says counts as fringe. so I did not know if this as designed not to work, or what.

oh I get it man, the game has a lot of these interactions where it should be easy, but then they are not lol. I just can't get past the counts as a mando part, once it counts as a mando it interrupts the limitations on talon, IMO.

OK then:

Neither Independent Outfit or Mandalorian change the character's faction, so characters with IO or Fringe with Mandalorian satisfy the requirements of Talon IB's commander effect.

Where these abilities get interesting is counting as both for enemy abilities and effects. Captain Antilles's CE works against characters with IO. Mandalorian Hunter works against Rohlan Dyre (etc).
