Pure awesome! Thanks for sharing Lilywan How did you make the Durron clone for Exar? Or is the model, beneath the heap of paint WotC put on the figure... actually clear? if so, I gotta make me one of them. That Yarael looks sinister, and very much like the concept art! I like this take on the iconic character - its sorta like the original jabba vs the 3D slug version. You must share the recipe How does Yareal compare to the other councilors, is it at least as tall as a wookie if not taller? I ask, based on the photoref thats out there... quemarians seem ridiculously tall (hence Yarael's scoliosis).

Kyp is in fact clear under the paint so just soak him in acetone, scrub and violà! kobayashimaru wrote:That Yarael looks sinister, and very much like the concept art! I did a weapon hand replacement, removed the head and added his mantlet, neck (KuoToa arm) and head (Red Skull mini, though I think a Duros would do as well). More minis coming soon including some large and huge conversions.

@lilywan, So Kyp is actually clear under there?!?! AWESOME! I will have to try that with a couple I've got kicking around. Are all figures past a certain set clear underneath? Anecdote alert: Way back in my very early days at customising, I used to try stripping the figure before completely repainting the figure from the basecoat up, and most of the time this ended up making the seams on the model become more pronounced if not the vinyl much more rubbery (than it already is if you can believe it) and often it left a lot of gunk behind in the disposable cup. Most of the figures were solid black beneath the (copious) paint layers. I think the warping and distortions caused were from using too strong a paintstripper/acetone (which I had used to great effect on pewter and mixed metal figures in past), and the damage was further compounded by then reapplying paint in too-thick a coat per layer. As for creepy 'slenderman' Yarael Poof, thanks for the recipe! You'd never know all of those particular parts that went into it by looking at the finished mini - the quality of finish looks so consistent, and the effect looks so creepy and terrifying (as opposed to the Dr Seus-y 'official' Yarael and the Robot Chicken variant). Thats what I was angling at with the 'original jabba' vs '3D slug and anamatronic Alice-in-wonderland' Jabba - I was much more scared by the jolly Richard III esque/Baron Harkonnen style villain. Do you have any spoilers for the upcomming stuff?

@kobayashimaru Kyp and the Jedi Crusader are clear. The Mistryl promo (thus probably the ordinary Mistryl, haven't checked) is clear. I've found, cutting up so many minis, usually just the lightsaber & arm to be clear and then glued to a black plastic mini. The acetone made Kyp a bit rubbery so less soaking next time. I plan to make some obscure droid conversions soon including Beru's 2X-3KPR droid, an R1 Astromech and this droid/vehicle/whatever it is: I saw your kit-bashed droids and machinery. Love that stuff.

@Lilywan, Thanks for the kind words, i like to think that I've slowly improved in terms of repositions and the bitsbashing over the years and I hope i can keep on improving particularly in using more recycled parts and reducing waste, making raw green minis/working with greenstuff and especially in the paintfinish or adaptability of the final versions. hopefully 3D printing and lazercut/photoetch open up new mini-making frontiers and improve the quality and options. Have you done much in the way of 3D printing? Or are you more into making .obj or .stl's and digital sculpting? It's awesome to hear droids will be getting some more figures, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you approach them. It'll be great to see your take on the classic R1 series - will you be making them modular so as people can swap parts around?

Impressive. You should do a whole set for The Force Awakens. Great job.
