It's funny, they say this is a community game, but when the community speaks up and voices concerns they have about who is designing their sets, it gets locked. There was no name calling, actually no ones name was mentioned at all. So what is it, a community game? Or the designers game that we should all count ourselves privileged because they let us play? Just be clear, if it's a community game the discussion should be allowed to continue, if it's the designers game, I totally understand why it was locked.

I agree with this right here.^^^ Community has to have a large voice in the direction the game is going. Otherwise the direction can stray too far from the community. I, too, would like to know the answer. If I am just going to be 'censored' what is the point of voicing an opinion?

I wish it was not locked. It could be seen as 'edgy' but we can live in edgy and if it goes over the edge, put an end to it. (I think I am going to watch Minority Report tonight) It is not a secret that Vset 6 had some slip-ups. its nothing new. its something we have to learn from (I think we have) and move forward.

Reminds me of the "Mandalore Da Beast" days.
OK.
NO.
It doesn't. Lots more acrimony and anger back then. (the pages in the 130's to 150's have lots of locked stuff.) Give SB a break, he is just doing his non paid for job.

I do thank Sithborg for all he does and all he has to put up with. Volunteering is a thankless job most often times and I am sure it is much easier for everyone if things are just prevented.

However, my point is that sometimes it is more beneficial to let things go a tad. After all, It is through conflict that lasting resolution can be found.

it is out job to ensure that conflict stays within acceptable boundaries.

I have a problem with what he did this time. There was no name calling. It was more about saying what you think is good or bad about someones artwork. You can't take your designs as a designer personal when someone talks about them good or bad.

That was one of the best threads I have ever read on the boards and I was really sad he locked it. I understand why he did it and kind of agree on some level with what has happened in the past but this might of gone too far this time.

It was a great read that was close to the grey area but I am not sure it was there yet. Having family work together doesn't work all the time and was great to bring up to the public because I think having designers that are close like family on the same projects needs to be looked at deeper.

@ Jak,
thanks for the reflection - it is intriguing to notice that others are not alone in some of their reflections BigGrin
although I cannot speak for others, perhaps using text in such a fashion is to evoke the authorial tone,
such as an homage to _Nickname_ posts, which were in blue (which were 'authoritative' cadence)?

As those who were around for ye olde 'Boba BH disintegration is broken" flame wars,
or "GOWK is too broken" flame wars... many doesn't want to see those recur.
let alone, the misperception of trolling, or users who hold a grudge, which may or may not happen, it is seen by others perhaps as potentially happening...

@all
We must beware the pitfalls of 'textrage' - and recall the limitations of the text-only medium
- though there are many other multimodes of communications, such as sharing images,
skype/VOIP/googlehangouts, BMs etc...

indeed,
some reflection here on the state of the game and its splintering continues
- bloomilk was a home to fans of SWMinis and freethinking,
of scifi fans etc...

though in recent times, there has been some stagnation,
and rather than some tangential freethinking (which has mostly been awesome the past month or so, as many new ideas have been nutted out, and creativity increases, as well as meeting more players realworld and trading) ---
people have been arguing some esoteric aspects rather than compromising and recalling the objects/aim of the game -
which is to have some SWMinis fun BigGrin

and a few PMs etc which were long about some standpoints etc...
which cause a reflection on how much time or promotion effort I'll make toward bloomilk in future. BigGrin
there are other webpresences, with different chi/aura/vibe BigGrin

also,
in light of some enforcer who more strictly enforce the codes of conduct etc...
people need to recall the freedoms at their discretion -
there are other webplatform and time and place also available -
there is PMs/BMs, googlehangouts, many ways to discuss things, and go to other places that have different etiquette standards etc.
While I personally do not condone 'banhammer' or 'censoring' ostensible behavior - as unless there's a serious breech of the codes of conduct/netiquette, the maxim "sticks and stones glance might break some bones, but words have never hurt me" may be apt.
by the same token, I am aware that people are always at liberty to have discussions in multiple places and at other times - in this day and age, simultaneously even, across multiple platforms. BigGrin

lets also somewhat keep in mind;
So too, the 'Author is Dead" Roland Barthes or "The Map is Not the Territory" Korzybski,
or "ceci n'est une pipe" (magritte)
the game is what you make of it now, it is awesome to see some divergences,
just like no-one "invented the questionmark" or made the alphabet... SWMinis is nearing that point, where noone 'owns' the game...

and while there are some streams and tangents of SWMinis I wouldn't wish to canoe down,
its great to know that as new players find the game, they can play all different kinds of modes.
(Personally, many tournaments or local events are with a wide assortment of persons, many who haven't played the game long,
or had exposure to the various VSets etc... which can be offputting at least initially.)

To make some non-official cards, combinatorially game those and play with a 'play to win' mentality in all aspect of gaming -
those are more the problem that emerge. This path leads to the pitfall of GW-W40K, and of MtG etc...

digression aside,
Though, seeing some erratas on Daala, and even now a ban of the CDO,
some efforts are being made to re-balance the game - to bring back the fun,
to return the "auto-include" points, and broaden the combinations of squads which are "meta-competitive" and "survivable"
and, things go from strength to strength.
Even as situations in realworld may become fraught;
we revive, renew and continue the SWMinis game, which does not so bad for a dead OOP game which enters its 5th year of death. BigGrin

SWMinis is dead: Long live SWMinis BigGrin
(besides, I am too preoccupied with SW40K and GOBS to play the pure SWMinis as much these days - I'm a gamer that goes in part where the fun is BigGrin )
