So I know how cover works in general, but how does it work for the larger characters in the game? Does it work the same way where if any part of the character has cover, then it is considered to have cover? Or does it work out that you only have to see one full square of the character?

It works the same way as with smaller characters, so it's pretty easy to get cover for larger characters. That's why most large and huge characters have lower base defense to compensate.

Really, the only change regarding cover is when your determining cover when the large/huge character is the one doing the targeting, as you can use any corner of any square the character occupies, not just the base corners.

I've never thought about that before - I guess it makes sense on some levels, but it seems like a pretty bad deal for huges, given that it's difficult to hide them altogether.

One of the main reasons it hard to make a competitive huge.

New Tank Droid might change that.

Don't believe so. But all stats are coming soon. So - why not drop an Easter egg here.

Do me a favor and don't repost these stats elsewhere, and don't direct people here (at least not through announcing it on the forums.)

Let's just see who stumbles across it. ;)

Quote:
16. NR-N99 Droid Enforcer - HUGE
Seps
65
130
16
12
30
Droid
Speed 8

Damage Reduction 10 [Whenever this character takes damage, reduce the damage dealt by 10. Attacks with lightsabers ignore this special ability.]

Dual Weapon Use [Replaces attacks; Make 1 attack, then use a special abilty that replaces attacks]

Mount 2 [This character can transport 2 Small or Medium allies who ends their move adjacent to it. Remove that ally from the battle grid; they move simultaneously with this character, have cover, and are considered adjacent to it. They can make attacks, counting distance from this character. A transported ally can return to the battle grid immediately before your first activation of the round. If this character is defeated, the transported ally is also defeated; save 6.]

Mounted Weapon

Pulse Cannon 40 [Replaces attacks: sight; 40 damage to target and to each character adjacent to that target; on a save of 11, reduce the damage to 10]

Stun Mortar [Replaces attacks: sight; living target and each living character adjacent to that target are considered activated this round; save 11 negates. Huge and larger characters ignore this special ability.]

Stable Footing (Not slowed by difficult terrain or low objects)

I came here to find an answer to something I've been confused about for a while, and instead I stumble upon some leaked stats. Confused

Also, I was always under the impression that Large and Huge defenses were so low simply because they'd be rather easy to hit. Razz Never thought of the cover issue. That really is unfair for them. Sad

A big part of the low defense IS flavor. It isnt hard to hit something that size. They usually get at least more HP and often other defensive abilities to make up for it. It's not difficult to blow up a tank with a pistol because it's too hard to hit the tank.

@Timmeh,
ouch... me like-y though,
me like-y a lot that NR-N99.
That said,
it makes me annoyed that older sep huges aren't all re-worked to this new standard
(though, luckily some made custom huge spider droid staggered activation cards a while back).

@OP
great question! BlooMilk
a popular house-rule, is to not afford cover to huges (ie, a base-size comparison check as part of the LOS check step)
so, a Huge against another huge also ignores cover (except magenta lines), but a huge against medium or small still affords cover.
Small or medium against a huge ignore the cover defense, but still require Accurate Shot/Sniper to target the thing even if it's closer, because it has low objects between it...

we've never been able to fathom how that functions either, especially the 40K players coming to play SWMinis...
Huge targets oughta be easier to hit: there's more stuff to hit - most have molecular shielding or DR 10/20 to compensate. and most have Mounted Weapon, which necessitates Industrial Repair if you want to heal them up and Gunner to combine fire.

It also doesn't make sense why huge's don't suffer a penalty to attack adj things, if they can even attack them at all (due to firing arcs etc),
why you can't trace a LoS through a huge (by the same logic that cover doesn't apply to Huges, neither should huges hinder line of sight...)
and why huges didn't all retroactively adopt the 'staggered activation' template of say the AT-AT, AAT etc...
