This game has effectively replaced Heroclix for me. much cheaper to buy, just as fun and less confusing and time consuming. Sets aren't coming out as fast as Heroclix also, which is good imo, since it gives me a chance to play all the different characters before the next set comes. I talked to my LGS and we are now going to be running tournaments for this since all the heroclix players have pretty much switched over to Dice Masters. I still will play heroclix, cause it is still fun, but as far as buying into a game, Dice Masters has replaced it completely. Anyone else playing Dice Masters?

that's a fascinating observation, and thanks to share it despite a lot of folks making disparaging remarks about Dice Masters elsewhere... "kiddie game this", "why don't you just play Craps" that... I've always liked Craps, Dice Poker (Dice Masters, Dice Poker...), BlindBeing's Bluff and that's probably why Dice Masters is so danged addicting.
I will agree that heroclix is... it's going a little "full cash-cow", 3 of the same figure in the same calendar year? price per brick and per unit increasing -did they learn anything from GWs decline from moving up-market? It's too much like MtG now, with a bunch of sets being retired almost immediately post-launch. Yet, still a lotta lotta fun! (Martian Manhunter promo being my FAVORITE piece, besides the limited run "the worlds finest" duo)
Plus, high calibre female players of Dice Masters are commonplace in the CBD - they're good friends/competitors but dang, do they play Dice Masters aggressively. Why am I observing that? Very few female players would play Heroclix, yet, a lot would play Magic the Gathering, GW W40K or roleplay games so, that's an awesome feature to Dice Masters - that folks can game with a more diverse array of opponents than 'the same old crew' each week hehe.

funny you should say this, as i just introduced this game to a couple and the wife who normally doesn't get into playing games like this, has totally gotten into playing it and is freakin good at it and is merciless in how she takes people out playing it (she was bragging how she beat her husband 8 out of 9 times in one night). So it made me smile when you mentioned female players playing this game aggressively.

whoever made Dice Masters is AWESOME! all kinds of people - LGBTIAHO, people in general, they love Dice Masters - it's a great 'parlor game', and simple enough to be like dice poker etc hehehe this is as awesome as Agricola or Settlers of Catan in terms of demographics it "brings to the table"
we're finding a similar trend at most game stores and the recent NorthCon event (400 people, the biggest turnout yet) was great with 60 40 in favor of females attending to play games and attend the sideseminar workshops (on game mechanics and games systems theory + design - we've got a lot of gamers in the offing heheh).
thee game bunker at chapel hill though, the new influx of customers has enabled the store to have a facelift. It is good stuff, and I'd be keen to hear what other folks think about it? (apparently you can get custom 3D printed die as well? metallic ones?)

Sadly, the company that makes it is a big, big deterrant from me playing it.
Besides, I think Ashes will provide my dice rolling fix.
