urbanjedi brought up an interesting scenario on SHNN last night.
Suppose your opponent used Advanced Door Gimmick to hold a door open. You have Override. Clearly you cannot use Override to close the door - that is right in the description of ADG. However, could you use Override to *open* the door? Several possible answers...
a) No, Advanced Door Gimmick is stronger than Override, so if Advanced Door Gimmick is affecting a door, then Override cannot affect that door. b) Yes, and then both ADG and Override are holding the door open. c) Yes, and that clears ADG from affecting the door. The door is only held open by Override.
Which one of those is the case? I would imagine it works the same as Override and regular Door Gimmick (with Override being stronger than Door Gimmick), so the answer goes all the way back to WotC abilities. But I couldn't find the answer in the FAQ or glossary.

Rules lawyers. A. If you read between the lines of the glossary definitions of all 3 abilities, you can glean that their interactions with each other are based on changing the status of a door being controlled by another character.

Thanks. That was my guess. It would have been an interesting way to clear an Advanced Door Gimmick and then lock the door if you had 2 Overrides you could use back-to-back. But I'm glad it doesn't work. Makes understanding door control a lot easier.
Simple hierarchy: 1. Advanced Door Gimmick 2. Override/Manual Override 3. Door Gimmick
You can change the status of any door being controlled by an ability equal to or weaker than your ability. Only one ability controls a door at a time.
