Does +6 defense count? The CE doesn't specifically mention "contains Trooper" it's just "Trooper".

It works.

When it just says "trooper" or "mercenary" or whatever, then if such a special ability exists, they have to have that ability. If the ability doesn't exist, then it just means "name contains" even if it doesn't use those words. The Trooper ability does exist, but based on the ability's definition, anyone whose name contains trooper also counts as a trooper.
