All this means is we need people to register in advance. If the event fills up, we might be able to ask for more seats.

we have had a steady decrease in attendance that past couple of years and gencon is a business. it's about table space.

I believe we had 22 last year. Even if I'm wrong and it was higher, it certainly wasn't more than 30.
As I said, if we get 24 to register before the event, we can ask for more space. And we will most likely be able to accept generics, as well.

we had 36-37 in 2012,and 'bout 24 last year. FanFlight new games are taking new players. Now I'm one of those. I'd play more minis, but the only place to play is at tournaments. I do not like competitive play. Turns cool people into dix. I really like casual play, but sadly, players are leaving. Even our monthly SWM group, meeting since 10-09, have turned to the darkside of Imperial Assault. Not really a better game, just has more players.

I'll be in this year. I hope we can get 30+ again, so I'll be registering immediately on May 15 when Event Registration goes live. Link to the event: 2016 Star Wars Miniatures Championship: Semi Final(Yes, it says "semi-final" but that's just to distinguish this event from the Final event later on)

27 people in 2014, 22 people in 2016.
24 would be about what I would expect attendance to be. If people register early and we look like we are going to reach the number, we might be able to get some spots added.

It would be outstanding if we hit 22 again.

I would love to come if I can. The truth is though I probably would not play in this because I have been gone so long I would not even have a clue what works. I think that might be a slight hang up for others. The fact they have no real idea what works and what cards or minis they would need makes it nearly impossible to try for someone who used to play but it is currently out of the loop. Heck right I would not even know what the legal maps were. I think for many of us, where life has gotten in the way (or in my case an evil red headed witch) it makes it feel impossible to catch back up. I even try to get on vassal and find absolutely no one there most of the time.

You pretty much need to schedule Vassal games at this point. Drop in games seldom work.
The half dozen pure WotC builds that were tier 1 when the game ended are still playable. Might not be tier 1, but if you know how to play them, probably your best bet. Most of them can be improved with some Vset tech, but you can learn about that with a quick bloomilk thread. They have pretty good counters now, so if you hit those it would be bad match ups.

Pre-registration for Gen Con ends in two days. There are currently 8 people registered for the Champs. If you're planning to play, please buy your tickets. We'd love to have a great turn-out this year.

Didn't even realize there was a pre-registration deadline. I'm already signed up for the champs but I haven't filled out the rest of my events yet.

Just to buy your tickets and have them shipped/will call. Obviously, can still get in with generics or buy tickets onsite. Just wanted to encourage people to register if they can.
