Overwhelming Force vs Force Defence Options

Still trying to get my head around this one.

Does Overwhelming Force used by "Lord Vader" still allow its attacks to play thru even if Grand Master Luke Skywalker states to use "Force Defence" when 6 spaces or closer? I'm of the thinking GMLS can cancel the Overwhelming Force as long as the attack rolls haven't taken place yet. Is that correct?
