howdy folks.
well, we've heard straight from the horses mouth,
and it looks like
a trek miniatures skirmish game and RPG by modiphius is going to be a thing,
so if you're going gencon etc, pickup your premium kirk or picard con exclusive (you lucky Northern Hemisphere only #@$#'s!)
along with probably a Perry Rhodan series too!
i'm probably a little late to onboarding of this hypetrain,
but I havent seen a lot of folks talking about it,
so it'll be great to hear what you think.
http://www.modiphius.com/star-trek.htmlnow, we can settle an age old question, in style!
who is better, kirk or janeway or picard?
who wins from: kirk, w40K, darth vader etc...
by far, the news of a skirmish league,
with very similar rules to learn as some other tabletops (ahem)
is very awesome for Trek.
300pt trek away teams would be proximate in duration to a 150pt SWMinis,
and similar run times or map configurations,
mean all those custom maps are still useful!
they become 'ma'quis pirate outpost' instead, etc...
in terms of the RPG element,
expect modiphius' attention to narrative-driven RPG
to come to the fore. they made achtung-cthulhu etc...
this will be the SWRPG equiv for trek.
prior to that, FASATrek was basically the only other gig in town for Trek RPG'ing.
its fun, but a lot of counts as finicky rules were there...
i can play a romulan engineer,
or a chodak soldier etc.
maybe even, a soong-type hologram...
human astrolab tech/expert pilot (icheb meets tom paris)
will also come in handy
what aliens do you want to see from which shows?
- these could be fun customs fodder for aliens.
what faction would you play?
Im thinking - borg, romulan, fringe.
learning from SWM and FFGs IA,
how would you implement vehicles differently in trek?
are shuttles etc going to be a major factor,
or would it be merely 'phaser strike, torpedo strafe' etc...
