V-set 14 designers have been chosen

Returning Designers:

Tim B (TimmerB123) previous sets: 7+10
Jake K (sthlrd2) previous sets: 9+11
Bryan H (DarkDracul) previous set:12

and congratulations to our newest designer:

Lillian P (Lily_Wan)

Lillian was chosen through an extensive application process, sample stat designs, and her long history of community involvement. We are excited to have her on the team!

The choice was difficult, and we hope to work with other finalists of the application process in upcoming sets.

We have not finalized set list yet, but it is in the process.

We have chosen a mini-set theme. Cool

A little insight behind the curtain:

For this set, in addition to looking at the community wants, we are looking beyond just character names.

We are discussing the following as just some of the topics before the set list is even made:

-Subfaction/Theme Squads Discussion
-The in-set power curve
-New ability ideas
-Game NPEs (and possible counters)
-SW Species never made into Non-Uniques
-Design Philosophy
-Faction Needs
-Overall gameplay needs
-New Character discussion

Just a little peek at where we are starting. For funsies!ThumbsUp

We're going to be posting a series of polls asking players their opinions on different topics within Star Wars Miniatures.

We are genuinely open to community opinion, and want to have elements of our set address many of these issues to some degree.

We eagerly look forward to results from these polls!

Appreciate all the feedback on the polls. (Sorry they annoyed some)

It's been really useful.

It is an attempt to achieve multiple things -

1. Listen to the community. You are the lifeblood of the game. Obviously, there are many different opinions on many different issues, and we can never make everyone happy. But as designers, we absolutely must listen and consider anything that a good number of community members want. Some issues are very tough to solve. Some will take time over many sets. We can't tackle them all at once. I can say with 100% certainty that vset 14 designers are listening, and brainstorming, and trying to come up with creative solutions.

2. Confirm or change our own perceptions and counter our biases if need be. We are all human, and we all have biases. Sometimes what we think the majority wants, they actually don't. Sometimes it's just a small number of very loud voices, and really there is a majority on the other side not saying the same thing loudly and repeatedly. We of course already had a general idea on most of these polls, but some of the voting percentages have surprised us. We've literally analyzed the polls and said - This polls result was more extreme than expected - should we come up with additional counters or more hard line ones? Adversely there has also been - This shows the majority doesn't think it's a problem, perhaps let's leave this alone.

As I've said before, in many ways we are working backwards as compared to other sets. We are not just making a list of names and then deciding what they'll do after. We are carefully analyzing all aspects of the game, trying to decern what it could use as a whole, what certain factions needs, what NPEs need countered, etc. THEN we are finding characters that fit the need accurately. Of course there will still be some fun, flavorful pieces, and some high community wants will certainly be on the list. The goal is to make every piece interesting, most pieces useful, and a few pieces powerful . . . but none broken. The goal is to raise up squad types that need help, soften some powerful strategies and NPEs, and expand playable options.

Not that it should go into this set, or that it should go into any set that is legal for tournament play... But is there any discussion going on for Equipment pieces in SWM?

Like, random example,

Mandalorian Armor Cost X

SA
Can only be equipped to a unique
Character equipped gains Mandalorian Armor

The character would basically have their cost raised for that game to incorporate the cost of the equipment.

This isn't a blueprint example, more of a just a question with a rough drawing
