All minis formats are meant to be fun. ThumbsUp

Different events are fun for some and not for others.


It's clear that we've split into 2 separate conversations. That's totally cool.

So as I said before - if all you want are different rules, then THIS IS THE THREAD to come up with an alternate rules format.

The other was meant for the more casual PLAYERS, with rules made by them.


Nothing saying we can't do both. Heck I love alternate rules formats. (TILE WARS anyone?)

It looks like this belongs here instead, I just wanted to transfer it over so it can continue on in the right thread so people don't get confused.

things that I know of that are in contention:

Unpreventable damage
I would say that force spirits/ghosts are considered living.
Do we want to do anything with board-wide force abilities?

I am not quite sure why this is different than the other forum.

The casual event gencon forum is really a new rules format forum. They are one and the same to me.

Perhaps it's just semantics, but I don't want anyone confused (as has already happened).

Don't want the possibility of someone showing up to a tournament expecting it to be only casual players, but then seeing that it is mostly the best players in the world playing it.


If the only change is the rules, then it is an alternate rules format.

Just a question. If override becomes manual override, would it just be easier to have no override at all? Without regular override overriding a door open manually is the same as simply ending your turn next to it in most cases (unless it is manually locked on the other side. Doors locking (specifically) seems to be an NPE for many.

Would it be easier (or more people would like it) if there was simply no override?

The only issue I have with ovveride is the distance. I think locking a door closed is brilliant. I just dont think it should be done from 36 squares away in the middle of a room.

As for the tournament if the best players in the world are playing the format created it will be a more casual style format. I do appreciate your making the distinction, I just think that the better distinction to make would be for the best players in the world to understand that the format is set up for fun competition, not competition.
The format should make it fun is what I am saying, it is our job as the "casuals" to ensure that is the case

That's cool. I just wanted to ask, because I know I've seen it where a player uses override to lock a door they are adjacent to (or easily could be), and locks out a Vader or a Mace etc. I know that situation is an NPE for many.

Just wanted to bring it up. (I for one am not by any means anti-override, lol. That's why I know how many negative reactions it can get)

I certainly agree in my experience that locking across the board gets the most gripes.




Second question - what if overriding locked has to be done manually, but opening can be done as normal? Encourages more engagement.
