Oddly enough, I feel bad when crushing someone with Blast Bugs also. Also feel bad when the factor of crushing is poor dice rolls (Jason understands) or a small mistake on my opponents part. But I do it anyway - in competion.

Yeah, there's a reason that the disgusted "Vong" groan comes out when a player sees the Vong cheesy squad reveal

Just get rid of the Warrior Caste Sub and the Vong are just fine. And while you're at it get rid of the +4 saves from Yun-Ne'Shel Devotion. Meet half way and reduce it to 2 because crabs 6 getting a +4 mod is really stupid. On the other side of the coin, eliminate all the untouchable or next to untouchable pieces then so unavoidable damage isn't needed. Have any of you had the chance to really enjoy fighting against Rey when she gets +4 saves and 2 chances to evade and parry? SHE HAD A STICK!!!!! Really Wedge and Reekon giving everybody Evade can get shot in the face too if we are talking about NPE. Bugs and Spit poison for Vong was almost needed if you think about it. They don't shoot. It's the best chance they had. Spit poison is more fair though. I know the favorite rebuttal to any of this is: "A wedge squad hasn't won GENCON in X years, we'll worry about it then". So what. It's still stupid to give everybody on your squad the ability to simply roll and 11 and dodge a 40 damage critical and with Leia get 2 chances at it. AND it's not a Vset thing so don't start that argument. Leia and Wedge are both WotC. Off my soapbox... Thanks for letting me vent. is now

Or a save 16 for the Blast Bugs. Then there is a chance of dodging (or them missing). Still like the damage burning holes in armor and shields though.

I do really enjoy playing vong and think they have a unique roll tempering the crazy force powers out there. And I hear the bit about blast bugs but really direct damage has been a thing way before blast bugs. How about the similar clone trooper with flamethrower or Zabrak? It's either auto 40 or auto 20 at 6 (can't be disrupted for the latter) and plenty of nasty ways to boost them up. Or take it way back to sith witches with Palpatine, plenty of other examples but it's always been a thing and at least blast bugs, while unstoppable, is just to one character and can't be overloaded like many others. My only tournament experience with them was when one player brought the trademark blast bug build to our regional three years ago and I crushed him with a republic Krell reserves team, just brought in strafers and made short work of the bug chuckers. I think direct damage can be annoying but it does have a place and does have some killer counters in the form of strafe.Though how about a new type of YVH mouse droid that causes blast bugs to backfire?

Now don't scare everyone! Here's some REAL inside info on vset 14 Vong. It is almost all UNIQUE VONG focused. Even our non-unique Vong pieces support the UNIQUE VONG. Nothing to help the Lah warriors or the subcommander at all, and 2 Vong pieces specifically COUNTER one of the Sun-Ne'shel Priest's abilities, so that he becomes a little more reasonable. We are excited to try and usher in an era where something other than a non-unique Vong Swarm can compete. Nom-Bombs, Spit poison swarms, blast bug swarms, peace brigade soldiers (which shouldn't even be Vong) and Lah warrior swarms have been all there is at the top tables for some time. How about seeing some unique Vong hitting the tables? Without blast bugs or avoid defeat? We look forward to seeing this happen.
