So this may be an absurd idea, as you guys want to keep as many pieces on the low down as possible. But what if we had a tournament that focused on pieces in the design process. Get 8 people or so. 4 of them playing popular squads that were good during regionals and the other 4 are designated to play squads that focus on the new set. Obviously the number of participants and what not are just random, but I think that would give a better idea of how pieces/squads would do, instead of just playing a single game.
Yes, it is more work, but it could be very beneficial to see these pieces in a tournament setting, instead of just 2 squads.
