When Boss activates, he allows a commando to make an immediate attack. Can that attack be replaced with grenades?
Say Scorch gets the immediate attack, can he use grenades instead of the attack?

Yes. Since Grenades replaces attacks, it can be used on the immediate turn.
Also, it's at the end of Boss' turn, not at the beginning of his activation(for example, not until after he has moved and attacked, or just made an attack).
At the end of this character's turn, 1 follower within 6 squares whose name contains Republic Commando can make an immediate attack.

No. The CE only grants a singular attack.
This is explicitly covered in the FAQ under "Aerial Clone Trooper Captain and Imperial Officer"

Ooops, looks like I was wrong.
Which FAQ is that under? I am looking on Wizards' website, and not finding any mention of Aerial Clone Trooper Captain and Imperial Officer in the FAQs I've looked at so far...

No, what happen is that "replace attack" abilities happen during that character's turn... when the character's turn is over, no replace attack abilities can be used.... when you used Boss to give an immediate attack to someone that's activated, Boss doesn't give that character an extra turn, it just gives an ability that allows an attack during Boss's turn when it ends. Which is why special abilities that "replace attack" cannot be used when that character's turn is over in the first place.
