I believe it is because using the force point doesnt target or follow targeting rules

Correct. Ghosts can't be legal targets after all.

Never realised you can do this, but it totally makes sense.

So if i have an ability that doesn't target and I am adjacent to someone can I use that ability on anyone within it range or does it have to be on the adjacent piece?

Generally it's on anyone in range. It's the targeting rules that say you have to target an adjacent enemy if there is one. If you aren't targeting then the targeting rules aren't in effect. But remember that just about everything follows the targeting rules.

Kohoun infestation correct? Nope, still targets. You just don't need LoS Text Replaces turn: 60 damage to 1 living enemy within 12 squares regardless of line of sight; save 11 Glossary Text Instead of taking its normal turn, this character deals 60 points of damage to one living enemy within 12 squares. Line of sight is not needed, but you can't trace a path through a wall (count around it instead). The target can avoid the damage with a save of 11.

The Original Thread allows for this question as well.
If an opponent has Savage and I have a force spirit that is the only piece they can get adjacent to. Does that piece have to get adjacent to the force spirit?

lightsaber throw 3 (Force: 3 Force points) Instead of taking its normal turn, a character using this Force power chooses an enemy within line of sight, even if it is in cover and is not the nearest enemy. (Even an enemy with Stealth can be chosen.) This character makes an attack against the chosen enemy and an additional attack against each character adjacent to it (enemies and allies alike). All Lightsaber Throw powers count as nonmelee attacks for purposes of effects such as Lightsaber Deflect and Molecular Shielding.
how does this work then?

Deaths_Baine wrote:or the fathers levitation? Levitation is another example of an ability that does not target, so even if The Father is based he could Levitate someone else that is within 6 squares. Most area effects also don't target - Force Repulse, Sith Sorcery, Defuse Bomb, Traps. Although they affect everyone within the specified range so choosing a character is moot anyway. Strafe Attack and Lightsaber Sweep are non-targeting attacks (stated in the glossary of each ability). But they also specify adjacent (basically - Strafe's exact details are mind-bogglingly insane but basically they count as adjacent during the attack). Counterstrike (currently only on Jix) specifies that it doesn't use the targeting rules, so Jix can shoot back even if an enemy is adjacent - and regardless of cover/Stealth/Cloaked.

Deaths_Baine wrote:what about lightaber throw 3 it says choose, never uses target? It targets. However, it ignores cover, so unless an enemy is adjacent you can attack anyone in line of sight. Admittedly not the best place to have it, but the word "target" is used for Lightsaber Throw in the FAQ, and specifically answers the question about Lightsaber Throw with an adjacent enemy: http://swmgamers.com/PDF/Rules/StarWarsMinis_FAQ_WotC_Final.pdfJust remembered two more that don't target: Inside Information Queen Amanoa's CE
