Saturday, September 5th - Carbondale Civic Center in Carbondale (duh) Illinois

$10 entry to the Con
Doors open at 8 a.m. with games beginning at 9 a.m, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

For more info see here: Little Egypt Wars

There will be much more than Star Wars Minis happening, but you don't really care about that, right? Didn't think so. On to what matters BigGrin

9 a.m. - Dynamic Duo

2 p.m. - 150 points constructed DCI

7 p.m. - 3-man team event
(details below)

Edit: received this from the person running the team event
Quote:

All DCI rules apply in addition to the following:

Pre-Tournament
1.) You must register as a 3- man team.
2.) Each person on the team must have a 100 point Squad ready to play with map.
3.) No team may possess multiples of any unique Star Wars Persona (1 Luke, Mara, Vader, Whatever. This eliminates the Squint/Malak fiasco)

Set-Up
During the setup of your round Each player reveals his/her squad. Teams will each roll a dice <1 dice per team> The highest result selects 1 player from his team to play one player from the opposing team. The other team selects the remaining matchups. Players sit down and play their matches as normal.

The team with the most victory points at the end of all 3 games is the winning team. Tournaments are Swiss rounds then a playoff for the top spot if no clear winner is presented within 3 rounds.

More info as I receive it - hope some of you can make it!

I noticed the Owensboro crew put it on their calendar to be at the event so that's cool. We should easily come in with over 20 players.

Anyone else from here planning to attend?

Oh crap... I just realized I may not even be able to attend this thing. My wife and I may be hosting a memorial gathering that day for a friend that recently died unexpectedly.

The date for that is still being worked out, but it is highly likely I will miss the event since the long weekend will make it easier for friends from out of town to get here.

Buzz-kill. Sad

Jim is actually going to be playing in this one instead of running it. This should be fun. I need to find a 3rd person for mine and my son's team.

Is the entry to be paid at the door, or do we have to pre-register? I have 4 likely coming to the con.

Entry can be paid at the door. I think pre-registration is available as a convenience, but is probably mostly for the other games that have additional entry fees, beyond the standard fee just to get into the place.

That's great you guys are coming down. I'm quite bummed I have to miss this Crying

Man, that stinks that you cant make it :((. Is your son gonna be at the event? Also do you know if there are people who still need team members, because of our group, one of us will be the odd man out.

Yeah life is just that way sometimes. My son might be able to make the 9am dynamic duo. Don't think I could pull that off myself with all the company coming to our place in the afternoon.

Mickey told me a while back he and his son Mike needed to find a 3rd, but I never got an update about whether they did or not. Expect he'll pop into this thread in the morning sometime.

Anyway - I hope it all comes off well - I'm sure you guys will have fun playing one way or another BigGrin

I hope all those that came had a great time. I know my boy and I had one. Good to meet new people and see familiar faces. That's the best thing about SWM!!

Well as a quick recap we had 3 events. A few guys came from Owensboro and St. Louis and with the locals we had just over 20.

On the Dynamic Duo: We had about 16 entries I do believe. We played 4 rounds and Bob McChristianson won. Matt from Metropolis had 3 betrayals on his Kreia!

The next event was the 150 construct: We had over 20 entries with some of the Owensboro guys coming in at this time. I actually did not hear who won this one.

The last event was the team: We had 5 teams of 3 players each. The winner was the 3 man team from St. Louis.

Jim and his son made it just before the last event started to say hi to everyone and drop off a full set of CS for prize support. Up to this point we only had a case of JA for the prize support for all 3 events. Everyone got a little excited over the full set of CS for the team event.

The events began around 9am and ended close to 11pm. It was the longest day of minis for me playing 11 matches. I had a great time.

100 Was won by Bob McChristian with the Durge, JH Tyranus, LotDS duo.

The 150 was won by Jason from Owensboro w/a Snowspeeder, Han-Cannon build. He beat me 115-70ish. (Note: He evade 4 straight shots, otherwise I would've had his snowspeeder, it was down to 20 and Dash got his Opp off. Sad . )

Actually the Carbondale group won the team event over us by about 30 points. (Note I got my vengeance for the 150 in the 100pt though, Riekeen killed GMY :D )

All in all I thought it was a pretty successful event and I enjoyed it.
