One of those situations that made me scratch my head (not because of the fleas ) Anywho! There's a character with Dominate (represented by the Letter A), a nonliving droid character (Letter B) and a living meatbag (C). X are simple basic nothing special squares... Scenario: XXXXXXXXXXX XAXXXBXXXCX XXXXXXXXXXX Ms. Dominator (A) says because RoboDroid (B) is not affected by Dominate, it is not a legal target. Ms. Dominator (A) continues to state that since RoboDroid (B) is not a "legal target" humanoid fleshy character (C) can be targeted and affected by Dominate, despite being directly behind RoboDroid (B). Is this an accurate ruling? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

This is covered in the glossary, basically when you use dominate on an enemy character, the regular targeting rules apply same as if you were making an attack. When using dominate on an ally character, then you can choose any ally within line of sight to the dominating character.
So basically if you have the character with dominate, & character c (the fleshy meatbag as you called it lol) is an enemy, then you would not be able to use dominate on that character because the droid character would be the closest legal target. Now if character A was your character, along with character C, then you would be able to dominate your own character because it is in line of sight.
hope that helps buddy.

That's how I had understood it but the people I was playing with said that because droid characters cannot be "dominated" they are not legal targets and I guess that means they could target someone else... I'm not so sure they were right, but I just said okay and waited to check the ruling on it. So here I am.

Yea just because you cant dominate a droid, it doesnt state that dominate can ignore targeting & go for the next closest if a droid is in the way. The droid is also a character & still technically the closest nearest target. The SA just states it has to be a non living target. So just cause it states that doesnt mean you can just disclude & not even take the droid into matter on the dominate turn yaknow.. How they thought it would work makes no sense, that would basically be like saying with any ability simular to the scenario you presented that you can just basically act like they arent there & go for the next target lol. See when you read the deff. in the glossary it says that target rules still apply when using Dominate on an enemy character. & it also states that if you wanna dominate your own character then you would be able to just do it with whoever on your team you can see.. so yea they were wrong about that. & kudos for not even complaining about it & not wanting to argue over it & just let them go ahead with it.
