Hello i just got into the game and would like to create two cheap Squads to fight each other. I currently own very little, just the Clone Wars Starter Set, the 3 Map Packs and a HK-50. I am about to buy the Clone Wars Battle Scenario so you can consider those Minis in my collection. Since nearly all my Minis are from the Clone Wars, Republic and Separatists are the two logical choices for my two Squads. These are the two Squads i have come up with so far: Separatists - http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=57372Republic - http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=57388I could use some help on balancing out both Squads. Please Remember i am on a very low budget at the moment and General Obi-Wan Kenobi is ok to use. Any Ideas are welcome.

Thanks for the ideas in the comments. I have changed the two Squards a little around since buying the Battle Scenario just for the Clone Trooper on Speeder seems not really worth it. Think i managed to pull together a good Rebublic Squad: http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=57581But i got a lot of trouble with the Separatist Squad. My current second version looks like this: http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=57582 . Any ideas to improve the Separatists are highly welcome. But please remember i am on a tight budget.

Using Cody and Queen Amidala together can get those basic Clone Troopers down to just 7 points each which is something to consider. I would also say I'm not sure how necessary the Mouse Droids are as they only help spread the Sergeant's CE although they do make some tougher allies.
You know that with the map packs I'd consider picking up Barriss Offee, JK to go with Luminara in which case you could put your four Jedi together for a 154 point squad or 149 if you use Roron Corobb instead of Ani-Jedi. Toss in the troopers to get to a 200 point squad.
If nothing more that for style I'd probably try to make use of both Dooku of Serenno and Asajj with some droid backup. Your second Seperatist squad isn't coming up so I don't know what changes you made.
Now as for other budget squads I'd look at some of those squads in the challenge thread on this forum. The activation count may be high but when only one unique (and thus usually a rare/VR) is allowed you should get some ideas.

Your biggest problem with the Separatist Squad is that you're using a lot of points to boost mediocre units (The battle Droid Snipers).
Try this:
Dooku of Serenno Bodyguard Droid IG-86 Assassin Droid x2 Gha Nachkt San Hill Battle Droid Officer R4 Astromech Droid Ugnaught Demolitionist x2 Mouse Droid x2
The IG-86s and the Bodyguard Droid will be able to hit most things with the single boost from the BDO, and the R4 can make it even easier to land hits. The bodyguard will generally team up with Dooku but could also be used to protect the shooters or even the mouse droids (thus keeping your 24 defense wall intact).
Budget-wise, the additional minis shouldn't be a problem. Both Bodyguard Droids and IG-86s go for around a buck apiece and the R4 goes for about 25 cents.

ok i did some changes. i wanted to keep the hk-50 in the sep sqd so i decided to drop a ig-86 and the r4 from your list. looks like this right now: --Droid Control Budget v2.0-- 51 Count Dooku of Serenno 26 HK-50 Assassin Droid 19 Bodyguard Droid 16 IG-86 Assassin Droid 12 Gha Nachkt 10 San Hill 8 Battle Droid Officer 4 Mouse Droid x2 3 Ugnaught Demolitionist Preferred Reserves: (San Hill) 19 Bodyguard Droid (149pts. 10 activations) any further ideas ? especially for san's reserver. or is a second bodyguard in there ok. http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=57582

With Reserves and Reinforcements, you don't want to dedicate yourself to one particular set. You'll want to get ones that best suit your current situation. So, you'd want to keep a small sideline of potential reserves nearby. Also, If you only bring one set of reserves to the table and happen to get it more than once, it can be a bit embarrassing and annoying to have to rummage through your minis for what Reserves you want.
Beyond the Bodyguard Droid, I'd also suggest keeping a Dwarf Spider Droid, a Super Battle Droid Commander, a Geonosian Overseer, a Magnaguard, a Nemoidian Warrior, and a few basic Super Battle Droids (2-3) and Battle Droids (6-8) within arm's reach.

ah i see. still learning the game. thought you could only get reserves once before the game starts well i will have a few other seps to use the reserve a few more times. possible other reserves would be a super battle droid commander, a super battle droid, a battle droid and a security battle droid. but overall do you think the squads could take on each other and both are able to win ?

you get your reserves on a roll for initiative (variable rolls) reinforcements are granted before the match starts.

when i first started playing, i had both reinforcements and reserves backwards too. i never really liked depending on reserves in the past, but i am finding that multiple characters with reserves come in quite handy.
the other night, i ran Chancellor Palps, Rodian BS vigo, Lobot CLO and Kazden Paratus. i cant even tell you how many points in reserves i was hitting every other inish. i probably had the equivalent of 3 squads by the end of the game, it was Fun!

Now that both budget squads are done (still missing two mouse droids; they are blasted hard to get. was lucky to get 2 for 3€ each) i started working on a non budget dci legal version of my republic squad. To keep a similer command effect as GOWK i decided to use GMY. The Clone Trooper Sergeant was dropped too, to add a R2-D2 Astromech Droid (is this the one being called doombot?). Yoda buffs attack and defense, Amidala provides Mobile Attack and Cody grants Accurate Shot to the Clones. The Scientist helps with activations. R2 will be on door and tow duty. Ugnaught and Mouse will do what they can do best. Ratings (even tho i know they wont be very high) and comments are welcome. Every bit of information might help me to understand the game better and to become a better player. Are any Minis from the new Set worth considering? Thanks in advance for any imput.
