We just finished our Canadian tournament and it was a good time with plenty of players, but consistently, as expected, the more skilled and experienced players win, even against better squads. So the challenge this week is to create a simple piece that helps you out when you are losing. Examples like "while you have less than three characters on the battle map this piece gains -----" "If you have not scored points for gambit this game" "If your opponent has more points than you." And so on, something to help a losing player bring balance to the force without being crazy overpowered. Curious to see what you guys do.

1. The character must be canonical to either of the Canon or Legends continuities and from the chosen faction when required. They can have affinity, but the character must start in the chosen faction.

2. You may update any existing versions you already have and/or create a new one. You may update/create several versions of the character but you must ultimately select 1 you wish to run with. (this must be done by the schedule below)

3. Place a hyperlink in this forum to make it easier to find your character. You can just post the stats or image here but if changes are needed it would be easier (and save space) if you just used a Hyperlink (If you don't know how to post Hyperlinks in a forum setting please ask and we will help you. It's not hard )

4. Voting works as follows, pick your three favorite customs based on accuracy to the character, design, balance or whatever you decide makes the best incarnation of the challenge character. First place receives 3 points, 2nd place receives 2 points, and 3rd place receives 1 point.

5. You do not have to enter the contest in order to vote. But unless you enter you must have at lest 10 forum posts.

6. To make things fair you must vote in order to win the contest. You must choose three characters entered in the contest and you may not rate or vote for your own character.

7. The winner will be decided by how many points they receive. Ties will be broken by most 1st place votes, then if still tied, 2nd place votes and then 3rd place votes. If still tied, then the outcome is a tie.

8. You may not change or update the entered character AFTER the deadline.

You will have until Sun, April 7th, 2019 @8pm EST to get your submissions in. Anything submitted after this point will not be included in the voting.

Voting will start at 8pm on Sunday evening and end at 11pm EST on Monday, April 9th, 2019.

At the conclusion of the voting the scores will be tallied and the winner will start a new topic with their choice of theme.

Force adept which switches sides to the losing player whenever the point difference gets too large. Not entirely sure about the trigger for changing sides since victory points aren't usually mentioned in abilities, I might consider changing it to something else. I thought I could make the character pretty good for the cost since you lose him when you're winning, and you can't really spam them.

Concept: The more of them you hit, the more they hit you.

Partisan Militant

They don't play well with others, but they are strong working together, and with creative thinking and squadbuilding effort they can benefit from some rebel commanders.

Went with Anakin. Losing friends tends to be a strong motivator for him.

1. GG - Great idea for a character that degrades, but can still remain relevant. Solid addition of Conserve Ammunition. Not sure if it would feel good to play, but it definitely fits the theme.

2. Adamb0nd - CBA is a cool idea, gives Anakin a lot of strength and staying power. I feel that it would be hard to determine its strength without playtesting it out for balance, but I definitely like the creativity. Rage+Djem So+Twin is a brutal combination with a Re-roll.

3. Gandalf - Great idea, well executed. My two concerns are forcing players to track point values each round. While this may happen competitively, I don't do it casually at all. Might become tedious. The other being that I don't know how well this balances outside of a 200pt format. What about 100, or 500? Could be problematic, could be hilarious to see them switch 4 times in a game, lol.

Kiki - Solid piece. I like the design, it is creative and thoughtful. I felt that it is balancing around rolls and not around the flow of a skirmish. It could still hurt someone that is losing/benefit someone that is winning. While a good roll may mean that it helps you win, it is balancing independent of who is doing better than the other. I think this would be a great entry, but my interpretation of this CCC was different.

Kiki, Very interesting force renewal for everyone, very helpful Commander effect to and does balance out those freak multiple crits in a row haha. But as was mentioned it may not help enough against getting outplayed and destroyed as a new player, but it's a good help all the same.

Gandalf, exactly what I had in mind, pretty good balancer and aggressively and appropriately costed

Oakel, death shots are always great, and usually one of the squad builds I give to brand new players, because at least if you are being outplayed you can still hit back. I really like what you made here in that regard. With the adjacent they will have to charge in and base characters but I suppose it helps combat abuse of it.

Adam, this is very very cool. I like that again he gets stronger as you are being beat down. But added bonus of the thematically cool part with either healing or force points and the fact that it's one of the most well-recognized and loved characters will help with new players.

In the end I vote for:

3rd Gandalf
2nd Oakel
1st Adam
