Hey everyone!
It’s been a very, very long time. But I’m looking forward to jumping back into SWMinis! I haven’t played since 2013 and obviously a lot has changed since then. I’m making it my goal to make a return to GenCon ‘21 (fingers crossed things return to normal by that point). I left the game just after the start of V-Sets, and I’ve been enjoying going through the new additions and reading up on how the game has changed but love to see that the community is still going strong! Minis was such a huge part of my childhood/early teen years, so to have the chance to get back into this wonderful game is such a bright spot at the tale end of this wild year. Look forward to catching up with you all!

The infamous Uggie Demo has returned! Welcome back man. Glad you've come back the the light side! Should hop on vassal an play some games. And if you're feeling extra sporty perhaps do some VSet testing!

Thank you all for welcoming me back! I’ve been having fun playing catch up with the recent sets. What would you all suggest as far as getting my hands on the physical V-Sets I’ve missed? I think I was completely out of the loop by the third set or so

But he hasn't been shipping during the pandemic, so you might have a bit of a wait. They're out of many of the old sets. If you want to print your own (less ideal), the PDFs are here: http://swmgamers.com/SWM/V-setMain.html

I am in a similar boat. I keep wanting to get back into the game, toy with a few of my old squads that I made between 2009-2012, then never play because I just don't know where to start. I can't keep track of the new characters in V-Sets. I don't know who synergises with what. Advice welcome.

I'd say to just post a squad and then comment on your own squad. There's a "request feedback" checkmark but I don't think people look there very often. But if you comment on your own squad, the comments show up as a most recent comment and you're likely to get feedback on it.
In terms of playing, there are Vassal tournaments running (new one started this week), and regional season will start up soon. Playing in person - that mostly depends on where you are and how many friends you can round up. And how quickly life can return to normal.

Another resource is the series of squadbuilding strategy guides that several of us put together. There is one thread per faction, and two for Fringe (one for attackers and one for tech). They are all in the squadbuilding forum and most are still on the first page of that forum: http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=topics&f=2Each thread highlights the main pieces for the faction overall, the subfactions, and the main pieces within each subfaction.
