Could Gnost Dural use Jedi Archivist to “steal” (learn?) a “for the rest of the skirmish” CE (ie Revan Supreme Commander), and have his allies retain the bonus, even if it’s disrupted/distracted, or he uses it again to take another CE, or he dies?

In the Spheres of Influence Tournament UrbanShmi and I had a game that this mattered. Since this hasn't been ruled on yet, we went with what appears to be face value, allowing Gnost to steal an enemy Revan's quick strike, keep it, then also steal Rasta Lsu's Greater Mobile Attack, gaining both CEs at once.
I don't believe this was designer intent. It really felt overpowered.
My suggestion is to spell out in the glossary that if the CE says "for the rest of the skirmish", that phrase is ignored for purposes of Jedi Archivist. So if the enemy commander dies, it goes away. If it's disrupted/distracted ABM'd - it goes away (for as long as that state exists). If you choose a new CE with Jedi Archivist, it goes away.
It is already a very powerful ability, but this unforeseen way to double up is over-the-top.

The rules committee is talking about this. Lots of things to look at including past yammosk rulings and other things.

The rules committee has circled around to this a few months later, and has decided on a ruling for commander effects that last until the end of the skirmish or for the rest of the skirmish: Quote:If the commander is in your squad, the stated character or characters gain the listed abilities or effects. The stated character or characters gain the abilities or effects after setup. As long as the commander remains in the squad (including if it is defeated), the stated character or characters retain the abilities or effects. Whenever a character enters or exits the squad (e.g. Versatility or Reserves or Betrayal), the commander effect is re-checked, and its benefits may be lost if the commander leaves the squad or may be conferred to a newly added character. The commander effect is also re-checked if the commander loses or gains it (e.g. Gnost-Dural). So to answer this question, the squad cannot retain the effect of a commander effect that lasts for the rest of the skirmish once Gnost-Dural has replaced it with Quick Learner. On the other hand, if Gnost-Dural dies or is disrupted while he has the commander effect, allies retain the effect.
